Sorry for swearing but I am sitting here feeling like someone has made me drink a bottle of tequilla (without the nice numbing efffect) - everything hurts from the top of my bump right up to my throat - I have had enough!!!

Coupled with waking in the night with a mouhtful of acid I probably will be a toothless hag by the time this little one makes his appearance!!!

nothing worked for me except.... remigel chewy tablets taste ok(unlike gaviscon!!) and got rid of indigestion instantly.... i suffered terrible of a night the worst but also through the day and remegel were brilliant unfortunately only "found" them near the end of my pregnancy (bummer!!) had suffered for months!!! try them the are great!!! hth

Anything minty works for me. Tic Tacs, polos, chewing gum and when i get really desperate and have none of those in i have a bit of toothpaste. May sound gross but trust me anyone who suffers with it bad enough will try anything!
HTH

Thanks Mears and Jasper. I'm off to my GP...!

I haven't read all the postings so I don't know if this has been mentioned already but I've been getting chronic heartburn and am getting through "Maalox" at a rate of knots. It's miles better than Gaviscon (for me) and works very quickly and last a long time (in terms of heartburn not coming back).
You can get your doctor to prescribe it and then keep getting it on a repeat prescription.

Not sure if this remedy has been suggested..Magnesuim Trisilacate. Worked a treat for me..slightly 'better' for you than Gaviscon, tasted MUCH better, and more effective I found.

It is a white medicine that has gone out of fashion with all these others on the market.

I was sick all thru pregnancy, so you have my sympathies

jjosiejo · 19/11/2009 16:46

Hi, I'm suffering really badly too so all sympathy. Gaviscon is no longer working for me - the only thing I have found that helps is drinking hot soya milk. It actually works better than the gaviscon ever did - i'd recommend giving it a go...

Another sufferer here - its hideous

I find Remegel and Rennies easier to stomach than Gaviscon. Eating almonds also seems to ease a bit. As does natural yoghurt, peppermint tea and milky drinks.

You have my sincere sympathy: heartburn/reflux/acid indigestion really is unbearable, and by far the worst thing about being pregnant.

I've been using a 4-pronged attack: Zantac 1 hr after meals, 2 dual-action Rennies if symptoms persist, chewing gum after meals in order to increase saliva production, and a cup of warm milk at bed time (3 pillows).
