All formula milk is very tightly regulated so there is practically no difference. Choose one that fits your budget, but you can also pick up locally in case of milk emergencies!

I took cow and gate pre-made to the hospital but used Kendamil once we were home and could use powder. My DD loves it and prefers it to cow and gate now. They use UPS to deliver and it’s been great to know I never have to run to the shop I just have it on order, if you live close to the Lake District (where it is made) they stock it in Asda, Sainsbury’s and Morrison’s. Got a few odd looks from the midwives when they asked what milk we were using but it’s palm oil free which means a lot to me

Exactly as @MustardScreams says, Very little difference! With my first DC I bought aptamil as it was the most expensive (so I stupidly thought ‘best’). I’ve read articles saying aldi’s Own is actually really good and there’s nothing between the cheaper brands, expensive brands and supermarket own brands. Most important thing is being able to get hold of it easily in case of a running out emergency!

Cow & Gate and Aptamil are made by the same company & if you read the ingredients, basically identical. Cow & Gate is cheaper..

As above poster, formula is strictly regulated so none is better. We used Aptamil as that was what the hospital used & we just continued.. I’d def recommend one that has the premade bottles, they were a godsend when out & about!

Used Aptamil from birth

Was fantastic stuff

Good luck Op

DD2 was formula fed from the second she was born as I’ve had a double mastectomy. SMA made her hideously constipated, but Aptimel seemed fine. Or, it was just coincidence I changed formula and she seemed improved.

We used Aldi mamia

Channel 4's Dispatches did an episode on this back in March which is worth a watcher - this is from their press release

Formula milk can take a big chunk out of the family budget, and many families are paying a needless premium.
• Sainsbury’s Little Ones formula - £175.99 buys six months of formula
• SMA Pro First Formula - £175.99 buys three and a half months of formula
• Aptamil Profutura Stage 1 - £175.99 bus two and a half months of formula
• Pre-mixed bottles of Aptamil Profutura – would cost £789.31 for six months.
Feeding experts tell Dispatches that these formula milks are nutritionally equivalent.

I'm keeping an open mind with the aul BF/FF and seeing how it goes, but after watching that show I wouldn't be paying the Aptamil premium.

I actually ended up using hipp organic as my little one had a reaction to sma and cow and gate...
Turns out hipp organic has one less ingredient then the others and that was the one ingredient that hasn't agreed to her. Also I think is slightly (only by like £1) cheaper then the other brands.

I used formula early on before DS had his tongue tie snipped and now BF with the odd bottle of formula if I'm on a kit day at work etc as I find expressing really difficult. We started with aptamil because we were given it in hospital, but it made him really windy and in a lot of pain with trapped wind so switched to Hipp organic as I was told it's gentler and the tummy trouble stopped instantly. We do use kendamil porridge and whole grain cereal now he's older, it's organic, full fat milk, no Palm oil, UK produced etc. If I'd known about it early on I would have used their organic formula too. They sell it in our local Sainsbury's and we live in the South. Essentially don't massively stock up on anything as different things suit different babies. Same with nappies, I was happy to use aldi, Waitrose own etc but we tried and they all leaked, so we've ended up with Pampers which work. DS is long, lean and wriggly, DN does well in Aldi nappies and SIL found the legs on Pampers a bit snug for him.
