Eye floaters

Hi everyone,

I suffer from quite bad anxiety and am currently 26 weeks pregnant. I've always suffered from eye floaters but a few months ago they got quite a bit worse but calmed down. For the past month or so, I've been having cobweb/squiggly lines in the sides of my vision ... but only when it's dark??? They're not directly infront of my eyes, they're seen out the corner of my eyes and when I look down. It's really baffling me because I thought eye floaters were only seen in bright lights?

Can anyone shed any light on this? My blood pressure is always normal around 110/65 and I have no protein in my urine.

A sudden increase in floaters should be checked out because they can be a sign of retinol detachment happening. I think the more short sighted you are, the more likely you are to get them. If you get any black spots you should get help straight away.
That said, once you notice them, vthry are all you see and they don't always mean something bad - it's just if they suddenly increase that an optician would be concerned.

Floaters can be more noticeable in bright lights, but you can see them at anytime, especially if you're moving your eyes and looking for them. They are often an annoying but normal part of your eyes aging, but a sudden increase should absolutely be checked out sooner rather than later as it can sometimes be a sign of something more serious. It may not even be pregnancy related. I have a complete posterior vitreous detachment which causes lots of floaters. It's nothing serious, more annoying than anything. It's very uncommon at my age, it's most common in people over 50 Blush
