Struggling with back pain!

Hi all, I've posted regarding my back pain before. I've had a diagnosis (finally!!) if Ankylosing spondylitis - spinal arthritis in short. The first trimester it disappeared and was lovely - however since week 14, it's back and it's worse than ever. I'm 19+1 and really struggling. My sleep is disturbed, I'm struggling to drive, look after the house, dog & DH, and sitting at my desk at work is agony.

I've been told I can take co codomol but there's a lot of opinions out there saying I shouldn't. I haven't taken any medication yet this pregnancy and I'm not sure if I should keep it that way and ride it out or take the co codomol?

I've had my maternal medicine appointment and been referred for physio (3 weeks ago, nothing yet!) so not entirely sure what to do at this point. It's making me bloody miserable!

Sorry for the massive post Blush

Take the cocodomol if you need it op

I have spd and use it at times although i havent used it half as much since i was signed off work

Also. You say your struggling to look after the house, dh and the dog. Stop all of this. Your dh needs to step up and look after you

The only opinions you should be listening to regarding pain killers, are those of the health professionals looking after you. They will weigh up the risks Vs benefits and wouldn't advise co codomol unless the benefits outweighed the risks.

Not sure if it will help with spinal arthritis but sitting on birthing balls can really help with some back issues so may be worth a try? You do have to get a size right for you though so check recommendations first

@IVEgottheDECAF I'm heading to a car show this morning so hopefully the walking will ease the pain however I'll have the co codomol at the ready!

As for letting DH look after me - he tries but I'm not very good at letting people care for me. He works longer hours too which makes me feel like I should be doing the housework/walking the dog when I finish work so he doesn't have to! I'll see if I can relax a little 🙂

@Bambamber I had two healthcare professionals at the same hospital give me contradicting information so I was unsure, but I think I'll take it now if I need to, but I'll always try walking it off, warm showers etc first. Thanks!
