Hi and first of all I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place! It prob is.

Iv had 2 ectopic pregnancies I still have both my tubes, will I have another ectopic if I was to fall pregnant? Anyone went on to have a normal pregnancy?

Iv got 2 children already and my second daughter was delivered via c section which the doc told me that's prob the reason for my ectopics.

I had a near fatal ruptured ectopic last year and lost my left tube - I'm guessing they treated you with methotrexate if you still
Have both your tubes?

Unfortunately for every ectopic you have the risk of another rises significantly especially if you still have the tubes in question as there will still be some residual damage and stretching but I know lots of people who have gone on to have a successful pregnancy . Have you had an HSG test?

We chose to move on to IVF after 12 months of no success after my ectopic and am now 5+2 weeks - I couldn't take the feeling
Of playing Russian roulette with my life every month we tried naturally

I had a c section too which was likely the cause of my ectopic due to the build up of scar tissue. When they removed my tube they did an adhesionectomy to remove whatever scar tissue they could but my left ovary is still stuck to my uterus

I had an ectopic pregnancy last year that was treated using methotrexate and I am now 14 weeks pregnant so it is possible to go on to have viable pregnancies afterwards.

My heart goes out to you as I understand how you are feeling. It's hard to stay positive but I have all my fingers and toes crossed for you for the future.

I believe after a certain number of ectopic pregnancies you are able to have tests to try find out the root cause and if you wish go on to use IVF so it might be worth having a chat with your GP about your situation and your worries if you haven't done so already.

Sending you lots of hugs x

I have had an ectopic treated with methotrexate, I got pregnant a few months later without intervention. Have you had an hsg to make sure your tubes are clear? My doc basically told me that even though we used methotrexate instead of surgery there will still be scarring on the inside of my tubes which is what increases the risk of subsequent ectopics. Honestly, if I had already had two I would see if IVF is an option for the sake of your own wellbeing (i know this is not an easy option at all).

I’m really sorry you are going through this.

I had an ectopic pregnancy, then a natural miscarriage then got pregnant via my third round of ivf. My ectopic was a result of a round of fertility treatment and unfortunately ivf doesn’t completely rule out your chance of having another ectopic but you are very closely monitored. All the best for the future xx

Thanks for all the replies, it's nice to hear I'm not alone in having a ectopic pregnancy, all my friends and family have never had one so they don't understand how hard it actually is so thanks.
No I haven't had a hsg because I think after my second ectopic, it burst and I had surgery and was in surgery for 6hours but they left my tube, so I gave up and in a way I tried to ignore it (I know I'm strange) so I concentrated on my girls 8 & 10 coz I thought I'm actually lucky and v had them and there's woman out there that can't have any children who would make amazing parents.
Me and my OH have been trying for over 4years with nothing so I dunno if I'm going to keep trying!

Sorry for the rant x

I'm surprised they left your tube if they operated? That's very rare for them to do that - in the UK anyway

I would request an HSG to check for blockages - a lot of doctors don't like to refer for them as they can give false hope as people think clear tubes means the tubes work - there is no test which can prove if they can actually push an egg through them

I would also do some follicle tracking scans and then put extra effort into baby making on the months that you ovulate on the side you haven't had an ectopic

Niknaks1 · 07/07/2019 17:37

Yeah I was also pretty surprised when they told me they left the tube, I remember them saying it was only slightly damaged so they left it.. I would have rather it was taken out! I made a complaint which didn't ever get me anywhere.

Just as an update I was unexpectedly rushed in for surgery last night with another ectopic - unfortunately they had to remove my last tube on my right - I was 6 weeks pregnant with no indication that this pregnancy was at risk of ectopic - previous surgery and HSG tests showed no scar tissue and tube wasn't blocked. Hcg blood levels were also rising faster than the recommended 48 hour doubling time

Niknaks1 · 09/07/2019 22:56

I'm so sorry to read what your going thru, big hugs to you! Hope your ok? Iv basically been told that I won't ever get pregnant naturally due to the damage that's been done..

itwasalovelydream I am so so sorry to hear your news. Wishing you all the best - look after yourself

Yes I had ectopic in 2016, left tube removed. Last year I had a baby in November with just one tube, it can definitively get happen !
