What would you buy with this voucher?

I have between £100-300 of vouchers to spend at a large shopping mall that also has a John Lewis. They go out of date next month and I really don't want to waste them on clothes. I'm not superstitious (or pregnant for that matter) but ttc and would rather put the money towards baby things that I can put in my loft. I'd rather not buy a pram but would be interested in a large item or a couple of smaller ones. What would you suggest I buy?

What about things like a baby monitor, the sleepyhead deluxe, a moses basket, a baby bath? I'm trying to think of things people have got for us that wouldn't take up too much room.

Maybe something like a next2me bed, changing bag, pregnancy pillow? Something that won't be baby dependent and that will be used regardless?

I would use it to buy a Snuzpod, bedding for it, car seat and maybe a breast pump. Can you definitely use them in John Lewis?

All of those would sell well second hand in their original packaging if you didn't like them once baby was on the way.

Ooh definitely a Sleepyhead

Whilst I get where the other posters are coming from, don't buy bedding or a mattress, or anything that pests could nest in our should be damaged by damp. Even if it's all fine now it's just asking for trouble.

Car seat seems like a good call.

Thank you for your suggestions. 🙂

Sleepyheads / cot nest type things aren't recommended by the lullaby trust and are a risk for SIDs.

Snuzpod is a great idea. I really like my video monitor for baby now she is in her own room. A bath and room thermometer we have is used daily. Maybe a lovely blanket for the pram?

I would contact the shopping centre and see if you can extend the time on the vouchers- could you use the vouchers to buy more vouchers, thereby giving you another six months/year? That's a big chunk that you could put towards a big ticket item.

I was in the same position but got pregnant soon after I won the vouchers. I'm going to put them towards a Bugaboo Ant once it's on general sale in September, as it expires in December.

What about a baby carrier like an ergo 360? They're pretty expensive.

I wouldn't say I was superstitious but wouldn't like to have any things in until week 25-30 of pregnancy.

With my newest baby we had to buy a lot of not baby related things like THREE kallax units and heaps of baskets storage because we suddenly wouldn't have enough cupboards, our dining table isn't big enough when he is out the high chair so a bigger dining table and more chairs. More shoe storage and a bigger car!

If there's any home improvements like that you could do with the vouchers that would be getting ready for the baby but not actual baby things.

Need to clip back any blind pull things you have, have high up cupboards for cleaning stuff, it's nice to have a rug if you've got a lot of wooden floors in your living room or a big cumfy chair in the nursery for feeding. Also if you've got things like a glass coffee table you might want to get a new one that won't show up dirt as much, that sort of thing that you could spend your vouchers on now
