Leaking fluid, waters or urine?

Hi guys, I'm 22 weeks pregnant tomorrow.

So basically, I was walking home about 3 hours ago and felt I had to pee, normally if I need a wee I can hold it, but this time it came gushing out, without smell and very faint in yellow colour. I put a pad on, and ever since, whenever I stand up or walk, I'm leaking fluid. Not much, but enough to wet a liner.

I do have cervical incompetence. Has anyone ever had this before? Have I just wet myself without realising (embarrassing) or are they actually my waters?!

Hi there
I would contact your midwifes and ask for their advice. The maternity ward would be able to help too. They might want to see you. Take your pad as they might do the “sniff” test. Good luck xx

Phone the midwives, they will probably have you in to check. Keep any pads as they may want to see. Hope it goes well

Stick a pad on and go in.
Usually this early on it's just loads of discharge that comes with pregnancy hormones or a bit of wee but you need to check, esp if its coming out when you stand up.

Same as others said contact your midwife they will check you over best to be safe x

I have a daughter who was born at 26 weeks, my waters went at 25 and was 1cm dilated for a week or so until she came, so I'm just slightly sceptical.

If it's just wee I'll feel so embarrassed 😂

I’d contact the maternity triage department, do you have a cervical stitch in place or are you on progesterone? Given the history of premature labour they will deffo want you to go in!

It really is important to call your midwife. They've seen it all before so there is no need to be embarrassed. Does it smell like pee or does it smell sweet? Amniotic fluid often has a sweet smell but regardless I would get yourself checked particularly given your history. Make sure you tell them about your daughter.

Ive had 2 prem babies so yeah 100% give them a call. Ive phoned them a few times & been told to go down.dont wait, if it is just pee then be happy not embarrassed, also its their job they see it all every day x

I wet myself in pregnancy and thought it was my waters. They really don’t mind. I also had really watery discharge at 19 weeks and they were really good. Kept me in for two days to check it wasn’t anything else as I had lots of Brixton hicks. They would rather see you and make sure you are all ok. X

I really really think you should go into the maternity unit ASAP, esp given your history. I’m no expert but I think there’s an easy PH test they can do to determine whether it’s amniotic fluid or wee.

Snowy81 · 04/07/2019 19:22

Go to the maternity unit to be checked- better safe than sorry!

Kate3150 · 04/07/2019 19:23

I had a leakage a couple of weeks ago, it’s was urine but I got it checked just for peace of mind..... they were so good and now when I have an accident I know what it is.. otherwise I would still worry. Xx

rebeccaxxxxx · 04/07/2019 20:24

Thursday452poh I've got neither yet they're scanning my cervix every 2 weeks my last one is at 24 weeks, I've stopped leaking now so unsure whether it was waters or urine but I've some dull aches at the mo, probably Braxton hicks. I'm gonna go get checked as soon as I can tonight!

Fingers crossed everything is okay!

My OH and his mum thinks I've just pissed myself 😂
