Dh and I have some kind of bug, he's got diarrhoea and I have it with vomiting. Both fine last night but my god I feel awful.

Worried that I can't keep anything down.

Should I take some of those rehydratino salts?
TIA

Only drink sips of water - eg. 1 sip every 5 minutes; don't try to neck a whole glass as the volume can make you chuck. Definitely take some dioralyte or similar, but again only a sip at a time.

When you start to feel a bit better, eat starchy food and as little fat as possible.

I don't think it will affect the pg as lots of people have severe morning sickness where they can't keep anything much down...

Try flat coke or lemonade, not diet stuff though. I had severe morning sickness and that was the only thing that kept me out of hospital with dehydration. Good luck with it.

Poor you Pink Martini I had a horrible bug for a few days at 10 weeks. I was advised not to take rehydration tablets but to drink flat lucazade and to eat dry white toast if I could. A few days without food won't harm you but you need to keep drinking. I found ice lollies helped too. I hope you feel much better soon.

Ditto what everyone else said really - I had a tummy bug when I was 7 weeks. About all I managed the first day was sips of squash, the second day I had managed an apple (sliced for me by DH!), the third an apple and some toast... As everyone said, the main thing is to keep fluid levels reasonable, so whatever you can that works - DH went to pharmacist for me and asked if i should be drinking fancy rehydration drinks, and they actually advised flat sugary coke. I didn't like the sound of that so stuck to squash, but whatever works for you, and sipping is the way forward.

Really hope you feel better soon, I know how horrible it is, especially with the added worry of the baby. But I'm 25 weeks now and baby is fine! If you're still having diarrhoea and can't keep anything down after a couple of days, and/or there's blood anywhere, or peeing is painful, then get yourself checked out a.s.a.p.

I totally sympathise. I'm 12 weeks and have had the worst sickness the whole time. I've been to the docs, and they've given me some anti sickness tablets, and told me I also had a stomach bug. I found the seasickness bands helped aswell. A nurse also told me that if you can eat a pack of ready salted crisps that will not only settle the stomach after being ill, but replace the lost salts. Worked for me!
