Anyone else get lightheadedness/fainting in first trimester?

I'm almost 10 weeks and have had a few episodes (since around 6 weeks) of extreme lightheadedness where all of a sudden I feel really sick, dizzy and look like the undead! It's a really horrible feeling and the out of control feeling tends to make me panic as I'm prone to a bit of anxiety anyway.

At my booking in appointment the midwife said I have low blood pressure so I'm guessing thats it. I've found if I really quickly eat some carbs or drink something sugary like orange juice I feel tonnes better though but it keeps catching me off guard. Today it happened driving home from work so I had to pull over as I was scared I'd crash!

Just a rant really but wondered if anyone else was experiencing this or had any tips? I try to make sure I eat small meals regularly but there seems to be no reason why it happens.

I feel your pain. I had this really early on in this pregnancy and had super low body around 80/50.

GP gave me the following advice, which helped to a degree:

  • drink tons and tons of water
  • get up and down slowly off bed/sofa
  • have a snack before getting out of bed to help raise bp
  • keep plenty of drink and snacks with you at all times

Thanks to all the hormones and changes to the circulatory system early on eh. The joys!

Try and relax as much as you can and hopefully it’ll pass soon x

Thanks - I definitely don't think I've been drinking enough water so that might help a lot! Sparkling water seems to be the best but even that I feel like spitting right back out sometimes :D

Hopefully this passed for you later in the pregnancy?

I feel dizzy whenever I stand up. I’m assuming it’s the blood vessels dilating to accommodate the extra blood volume. It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t forget and jump up quickly every time 😂

I had this from about 6-14 weeks, I'm 26 weeks now and I still get light headed, weak and like I want to pass out from time to time

I found eating little and often is the best thing to do and plenty of water

This started happening to me in second trimester. Started to feel dizzy around 12 wks and by 14/15 weeks was fainting. Happened at work, in the shower, scary how quick it came on. I'd suddenly feel too hot and 10 secs later passed out. I'm almost 17 wks now and still don't feel great but better than I was.

Midwife told me to go to GP and get bloods done. He was a total arse tbh said I might be anemic but wasn't going to do bloods 🤷🏻‍♀️ said blood pressure was fine. Was also told need to drink at least 1.5 litres a day. He said its just one of those pregnancy things and like when u get morning sickness it's not all day or everyday, some days I'll feel worse than others.

I wasn't happy with this and decided a few days later to try n get a blood test, I'm still waiting on results. My blood pressure getting a little better but still low.

My mum gave me over her blood pressure machine and it's very low most of the time, seems to just get into the normal range about lunch time (which was when I saw the go) then goes back down.

Are you knackered, getting headaches too? I'm utterly shattered and have been getting headaches so I wldnt be surprised if I am anemic but midwife said my levels were really gd at booking in appointment at 8 weeks.
