Nausea and vomiting

I’m 9+3 and since 5 weeks I’ve had really really bad nausea and vomiting. I feel so ill from the minute I wake up until the minute I go to sleep! I am sick several times a day. I am so grateful to be pregnant but I’m really really struggling.
When does it usually start to get better? I am not even meaning like completely go away, just even if I could get one day where I felt ok for a little bit. I just wondered does it just automatically stop or gradually fade away?
I feel terrible for moaning about this, because as I said, I’m so grateful to be pregnant but it’s so hard.

I had baaad nausea and sickness from 6 weeks and at 10 weeks i just woke up one day and felt soooo much better, the sickness and feeling of needing to be sick had gone! I did still feel nausea but not half as bad, i hope yours goes soon🤞🏻xx

ohdearymemumof3 · 01/07/2019 22:17

Just to add i am now 15+2 and neverrr sick now, and only feel nausea when hungry x

Mine was 9 weeks and I’m 23 tomorrow and only having a few good days now. Still not 100%, if you’re that bad please go to the pharmacy you can buy anti sickness over the counter they’re the ones the doctors prescribe - I know as the pharmacist told me to just buy them as it’s cheaper. Cyclazene or something like that x

I was sick throughout with both pregnancies, at its peak from 5-30 weeks but it never went away completely. Drugs helped. My one regret now is that I waited so long to get help with my elder daughter.... I didn’t push for tablets until after I was admitted to hospital with severe dehydration at around 10 weeks. Go and see your GP and ask for drugs, there are loads of options. Join the hyperemesis threads on here, people over there really know their stuff.

LKRJM Cyclizine is indeed available over the counter, although your GP can prescribe them to you in bumper packs.

Thanks for your replies. I was prescribed Stemetil but they didn’t work for me. I’m sick around 5/6 times roughly each day but it’s the intense feeling of nausea that is crippling me. I will go to the pharmacy tomorrow and try to get something else to see if it can help. Thank you.

21 weeks for me.. mine was more gradual. The hospital gave me ondanestron around 10 weeks & my GP suggested I stay on it as long as I needed, so I did. It stopped the vomiting but not the nausea. But life was more bearable. I knew even though I felt like I might throw up at any second, I probably wasn’t going too.

It’s horrible. You have my full sympathies. Def speak to your doctor if you need too. There’s safe medication out there, one I think has even been fully approved now.

Oh & prescriptions should be free when pregnant so better your doc prescribe them over the counter?

chickhonhoneybabe · 01/07/2019 22:42

It’s meant to get better around 12 weeks gestation, unfortunately though some women vomit throughout their pregnancy. Go to your GP rather than the pharmacy as it’s likely they won’t give you anything over the counter as you’re pregnant also you could be dehydrated and need fluids.

Marshmallow1992 · 01/07/2019 22:44

I don’t feel that I’m dehydrated. I usually do keep water down. It’s after I eat I am sick but I probably wouldn’t say I’m as hydrated as I should be. Yeah I will phone doctors tomorrow then and see what I can get as I have never felt as bad as I do right now. Thanks for your replies.

It’s good you’re managing to keeping water down, are you taking folic acid and a pregnancy multi vitamin?

Also, try eating bland food little and often, such as dry toast/crackers/rice cakes. I felt nauseous constantly it was awful, the only thing that helped was staying in bed and trying to sleep.

Marshmallow1992 · 02/07/2019 17:10

Yeah taking pregnacare! I'm just completely floored by it. I've tried taking the tablets again today but they don't work. I genuinely can't believe how bad it is 😭 I'm speaking to the doctor tomorrow and going to ask what they can do. Hopefully something can help me as I can't go on like this 😥😥.

People seem to find that pregnacare makes the nausea worse. I would suggest just swapping to folic acid tablets as that might help.

But yes I was sick every day of my pregnancy so it might not lessen so you need to look for coping methods and get some medication just in case

Marshmallow1992 · 03/07/2019 20:50

I managed to get Metoclopramide from GP and have started it this evening. I feel it has already taken the edge of it.

Ah that’s good. I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better 😊

NaomiSophia · 04/07/2019 13:04

Hey ladies looking for some guidance! I’m 7wks + 4 and have been sick since last Monday at least 3 or more times a day! I had went and had an anti sickness jab on Friday but today I find myself just as bad! Scared this could be HG as I’ve literally been dehydrated or sleeping the whole time in between x

Marshmallow1992 · 04/07/2019 16:44

@NaomiSophia I'm the exact same. I got new medication but I've just been feeling the same today. So so ill. It's really hard. I'm 10+1 and it's probably just getting worse. No advice apart from eating small and frequently but even that isn't helping me anymore. Hope u feel better soon.
