I’m approaching 40 weeks (first baby) and as things are becoming more real I’m starting to get very worried about tearing, needing stitches and the prospect of needing an episiotomy. I’ve done a hypno course which was brilliant and I can start to process these worries and understand them, I am still left with the regular thoughts.
I would really appreciate any positive experiences of the above, and also tried and tested recovery tips as knowing what to do afterwards would definitely ease anxiety with it. Thanks in advance

2 episiotomies.

1st one needed no pain relief after at all. 2nd one I took ibuprofen and paracetamol for a few days.

Going to the loo never hurt after either. No pain ever sitting down or walking or doing anything.

There were other bits of my second birth that I’m not that happy about but the episiotomies have not affected my life in the slightest.

I gave birth with gas and air and had some small tears.
With the stitches, they numbed the area first and let me keep the gas and air which I didn't really need for the stitches but it made me feel really chilled so I made the most of it.

It was absolutely fineSmile

I top was worried about this. I have the spray and massage oil from a company called The Expert Midwife. Heard nothing but great reviews about it especially the spray which is called spritz for bits.

I find the massage very sore and uncomfortable. I feel like I'm not even doing it properly lol. Time will tell.

The most important thing you can do is listen to your midwife when to push and your breathing. That will help a lot
