Anterior placenta and movements

Hi ladies, I recently found out that I have an anterior fundal placenta. I feel pretty gutted about it as I loved feeling all the movement with dc1 and I have heard you dont feel proper movements the whole way through, but then I have also heard that its only at the start then you feel normally after that, just wondering has anyone any experience of an anterior placenta and if so, when did you feel movement and did it get stronger/ was it different from other pregnancys even near end when baby bigger.

Thank you in advance for your experiences 🙂

I felt the same when I had this with DD3, but I felt all the movements and kicks, sometimes too much! When I was pregnant with super kicky DS, I missed my anterior placenta Grin

Hi I’m pregnant with second DC. Both this pregnancy and my first I had an anterior placenta so I know no different. From about 24 weeks movements were strong and regular. Prior to that I could feel sporadic movements.

Hi. I have anterior placenta for this pregnancy (24 weeks) I am sure started feeling the movements earlier this time than ever and now at this stage they just as strong as previous pregnancies. (4th baby)

From about 25 weeks I had strong and regular movements. My anterior placenta did not stop DD using my cervix as a trampoline, and later on jamming her feet up under my ribs.

This is DC1 for me so I don't have any other experience but I've been feeling movements constantly since 20 weeks. I actually can't imagine what it would be like to feel even more movement because I'm constantly feeling kicks and jabs and bum pokes and goodness knows what else!

I had an anterior placenta with DS. Felt movements no problem but bump was always very smooth no elbows or knees poking out. Also midwives missed that he was transverse breech position because they mistook a fibroid for his head. It was spotted at 35 week growth scan. He kicked against my spine a lot which used to send electric shock like pains down my back when I was lying down.

I have an anterior placenta, I didn't feel any movements until about 25 weeks. I never got any flutters, it went straight to proper hard kicks. Unfortunately I've just not had a pattern at all, it seems to depend what position he's in and whether he kicks around the placenta or not but some days I feel absolutely nothing, some day maybe one or two and some days he will kick hard all day and night. After my 24th admission with reduced movements they told me to just come in every other day to be safe and now I'm 36 weeks I'm in daily. They've been great about it, but it has been a struggle being in hospital so bloody much!

24 weeks pregnant with DC2 and an anterior placenta this time around.
I feel as much movement as I had with DC1, but it does feel different. Almost muffled. I was sad that maybe DH and DC wouldn't be able to feel kicks because of it but this week they have and I'm now at the point where my whole stomach moves with strong kicks - which I love.

I was definitely upset when they said I had one at my anomaly scan, and will be keeping an eye out on movements when baby is bigger but so far so good.

I have anterior placenta. Currently 35 weeks with first baby. I feel soooo many kicks, punches and any other movements. It's amazing. I was a little bummed when I was told I had this tryoe of placenta, but I don't know any different and I feel so much. It's great

Leftie624 · 28/06/2019 14:04

I had an anterior placenta with DS2. I felt movements a lot earlier than in my first pregnancy - at about 16 weeks and felt them really clearly all the way through. The consultant told me having an anterior placenta doesn’t affect how you feel movements although some midwives will tell you it does.

Leleophants · 28/06/2019 14:08

22 weeks and still no movements for me
Sorry!

mamabear2409 · 28/06/2019 14:12

I had an anterior placenta with DD. I didn't feel movements until quite late in my pregnancy but I put that down to it being my first pregnancy. She wasn't much of a wriggler until the night came and it was time for me to sleep Blush now preg again and this time the placenta is at the back. Felt movements from 16 weeks and feel them in small batches as opposed to one/two times a day. Every baby variesGrin

Fortheloveofscience · 28/06/2019 17:41

Only DC1 so also no comparison, I missed the flutters and went to full-on kicks that DH could also feel at 21+5. I could see them from the outside through clothes a week or so later, and now at 28 weeks I’m being kept up at night and can differentiate between kicks and punches.

Lisalou88 · 28/06/2019 18:08

I have an anterior placenta, started feeling flutters at about 21 weeks and I’m now 25 weeks and getting proper strong kicks now & regular movement. It’s my first baby so have nothing to compare it too but the kicks are strong enough for my husband to feel & I can see my belly move x

Scarletrose18 · 28/06/2019 19:42

I really feel so much happier now after reading all of these comments, I was feeling so gutted before....so it sounds like things will mostly be the same just the movement will be a little later in starting.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply to me ladies. Hoping I get those first kicks soon. 🙂
