20 week scan

I'm sure the doctor told me at my 12 week scan that I won't need a full bladder for my 20 week scan. Am I right or have I just made this up from somewhere? I literally have the worst baby brain ever at the minute!

I had mine last Friday. I don’t recall being asked for a full bladder. I did however get asked halfway through to go for a wee as the lady carrying out the scan needed to get some different images.

You need a full bladder for a scan

You need a full bladder for your 12 week but not your 20 week.

I'm not convinced you really need a full bladder for either, I'm having my 3rd and at every twelve week scan I was told to pee because the full bladder was making it harder to see the baby! Maybe I have a weird bladder...

You definitely don't need it for the 20 week though.

I was told I don't need a full bladder for my 20 week scan

I had my 20 week scan last week and didn't have a full bladder. In fact, it was pretty empty as I went for a week just before. It was fine and sonographer was able to see fine without. I read that you need a full bladder at 12 weeks to push the uterus up so it is easier to see but by 20 weeks this doesn't matter.

My last 20 week scan, I was hopping around the waiting room as I had overdone the full bladder thing. A nurse popped her head in and told me I didn’t need a full bladder for the scan. Best news ever at that moment 😂
I also have a 20 week scan for my next baby coming up in the next few weeks. Letter does not say a full bladder is needed.
