Hi all. Looking for some advice and wise words!

Today is my due date and on Friday I started having my bloody show. It's been coming pretty consistently since then, not overly red, quite pink. I'm needing to wear pads.

Since approx 4pm today I've been feeling quite strong pains in my lower back. They are bearable but painful. They come and go so I have been timing them but there is not much of a pattern to them although fairly regular.

I'm just wondering if this sounds like it could be the start of labour? I wasn't expecting the pains to be in my back so that's what's puzzled me a little I suppose. My waters haven't broken.

Any advice would be great! Thanks Smile

She will probably examine you and hopefully you are a few cm dilated already! Eep exciting for you

ShutTheFridgeUp · 26/06/2019 09:35

Keep bouncing and rolling on that ball to open your pelvis. Good luck, this is very exciting!

Hi OP, didn't want to read and run. Your pains sound like the pre-labour pains I was having for about a week or so. I drank a 2 cups of raspberry leaf tea for a few days, ate a few very hot curries, bounced on my ball. The thing that definitely did it was sex - 30 mins after having sex I started having pains that were completely different and undeniable.

Good luck!

Farmmum7 · 26/06/2019 19:24

Good luck! Hopefully you don't need it and you've popped already!

mrshadders · 26/06/2019 19:59

Not popped! Been at hospital most of the day. Had a couple of sweeps and by 530pm I was still on 3cm. Had a shot of pethidine and 'dozed' for about an hour but contractions still coming thick and painful. Will be assessed in an hour but if no progression likely they will break my waters.
Thanks for all this support ladies, it's so lovely!

Just want to add that I had irregular contractions and ended up 9cm by the time I got to the hospital because No one believed I could be that far along. So I'm glad you're there and being monitored.

And good luck!!

Sorry for going MIA! After a horrible birth (sickness, failed epidural, forceps delivery and a few stitches) I delivered my darling daughter into the world yesterday morning.
