Hello!

I'm new to mumsnet and thought i would potter on and have a whinge!

Have two girls (2+9 months and a 1 year old) and 33 weeks preg. Prob mad to have so many so close together but suffering with SPD for my sins!

Had it in my last preg. Been to physio and got a support belt but apart from crutches (which i can't use with a buggy anyway) there is nothing else they can do for me!

Anyone else out there suffering?

I'm due very soon and have had (apparantly quite mild but still shockingly painful) SPD this thime around. Seeing an osteopath has worked wonders for me. She hasnt done any scary manipulation stuff at all, most of it has been very deep tissue massage, but it has made a big big difference. I've been seeing her every couple of weeks or so and really notice it when I haven't seen her for a while. Luckily she offers half price treatment for pregnancy related stuff - maybe you could see if someone near you offers something similar?

Yes, I've had bad hips since about week 14 but it has developed into SPD in the last month or so (I'm nearly 32 weeks now). I just wish I could get some sleep at night time tbh!!! I'm waddling around in the daytime and if I hoover or do washing, it really hurts at the time and for ages afterwards. I've just started physio and got a support belt and I think it is helping a little bit - just hope I can open up my legs enough to give birth!!

My thoughts are with you xxx

I had shockingly severe SPD with my last baby. I couldn't walk or turn over or anything i was admitted to hospital for the kast bit of my pregnancy luckily as the pain peaked and got to it's worst i went into labour and it dissapeared completley. I know how your feeling its really tough especailly when you have other young children to care for.

I hope you have the support you need!

Good luck! xxx

Thanks for replying, i know it's sooooo painful but still nice to know i'm not waddling around in agony alone!!!

Tried an osteopath but round here they are all private and my private healthcare ran out last month (great timing!)

My one year old has taken a few more steps today (hooray!)so hopefully i won't have to carry her around anymore, which should really help.

Nevermind only 7 weeks to go!!! i'll be countin the days soon.

I'm suffering too and I'm only 22 weeks

It started a few weeks back which I was told is very early but its become worse in the last few days.
I'm hoping to pick up some crutches soon but with a nearly 4 year old dd and an 11 month old ds, I doubt I'll get much opportunity to use them.

Had it in both pregnancies, I sympathise.

It still gets me now sometimes, for instance today, it's agony and DS2 is 11 months old. Admitteldy this is probably quite unusual.

Had crutches with my last preg. Was so embarrassing going into town cos people kept looking at me in sympathy hobbling around with my big bump, two sticks and a toddler tailing behind!

Popping by to add my sympathy, had it towards end of first and all through second pg. Osteo was okay, but chiropractic worked best for me.
Was really worried I'd rip right up the front (TMI?) during birth if my legs got cranked apart, but all was fine, (leg cranking not required - I was a qaulity pusher ) and pain disappeared immediately after birth.
A bit achy if I sit x-legged for too long now (DD is 5 months), but sitting is a luxury I try to avoid .

Oh haven't tri4ed chiropractors yet. Are they any good for spd and what do they actually do?
