I am pregnant after ivf and so so grateful but this nausea is killing me! Its all day and night and I can only force down a couple of rounds of toast and a banana a day and not enough fluids, I gag on a tiny sip of water! Am so worried as am only between 6 and 7 weeks and feel so ill and weak.. I haven’t actually been sick but have never felt this awful in any other pregnancy, can this cause problems for the baby and any tips to make it though? Thanks in advance!

I’m in the same boat (waves)
With pg3. Always heard that if nauseous the baby often is growing well! Even if you can’t get nutrients in baby just takes what it needs from your body, so I did end up anaemic with pg1 Sad
I’m also eating a lot of bread.
Tips I was given is to try fridge cold melon or watermelon, jelly, ice lollies (mini twister lollies are going down ok for this pg) or flavoured milk.
It’s grim, you have my sympathies Flowers

Yep! Here here. You have my sympathy. Luckily I'm 12 weeks on Thursday and I've had more good days than bad in the past couple of weeks. My worst for nausea and sickness was weeks 7-9.

Unfortunately nothing really helped me and I just had to ride the nausea wave.... I started my pregnancy at 11 stone 12 and I am now 11 stone exactly.

Just know that you're not alone and sadly the nausea is just something most women suffer with in the early weeks. It's horrid but you do just manage to get through it.

I'm in the same boat as you. And it feels like it's a choppy sea this boat is on 😂

Every day it seems to be something different that 'works'. The thought of eating anything dry is making me heave and I wish people would stop suggesting dry crackers and ryvita! Today, the cheese on a margherita pizza did the trick. First thing I've kept down since Wednesday. Oh! And a wet paper towel on my forehead is really helping. I knew my primary school teachers were on to something when dishing them out for every ailment.

Bodies are weird things!

Feel for you. I’m 13 weeks DC2 and currently awake before my daughter because I feel so sick!! Watermelon has helped. Fizzy drinks. As long as you are managing a multi vitamin try not to worry.

I was the same, at my 16 week check my ketones were so bad that they thought I might have go into hospital.
I was put on to the anti sickness tablets straight away. Took another few weeks to start eating properly again.
I would see someone, I thought because I wasn’t being sick I didn’t have HG. But turns out I do, just wasn’t eating enough to get sick.

Thanks for all the replies!! That’s interesting Em I kind of feel like a fraud and that nothing can be done as am not actually being sick but then again never really have much in my stomach to throw up either! If it doesn’t improve in a week or so will go see my GP.. will give the foods suggested a try also thanks!
I am reassured as haven’t had an early scan yet but my goodness it is hard going!!

I had this from about 5w, mostly nausea that spilled out as actual vomiting about every other day, but it went on til about 16-17w. I was nauseous for every waking hour, I felt so shit. I hated my life! 😂

I’m 22w now, and I can’t remember feeling so awful really. Making the most of the second trimester!!

I actually had the medication from the GP because I couldn’t sleep from nausea, waking up feeling awful. But I took the meds for a week and they actually made me feel worse after the first couple of doses, so I binned them.

I can vouch for fridge cold melon (water-, cantaloupe, galia...) and mango, chopped apple, nectarines... I managed a lot of fruits, but had virtually no vegetables in the whole of the first tri.

Don’t panic about the baby. Take a Vit, with folic acid, and try to drink up! I also worried considerably that I was growing a slimy and grey baby, but the nausea is well cited as indicator of a healthy pregnancy! (Read Expecting Better, Emily Oster)
