I am 5+4 today and I am going on holiday when I will be 7+2. The flight is just under 4 hours so not longhaul.

I have read online there is no evidence that flying causing miscarriage but just wanting some reassurance.

Any recommendations for the flight?
Do I need to tell my travel insurance I am pregnant?

You will be totally fine. Lots of people fly all the time in pregnancy with no problems at all.

Check your insurance will cover you should anything happen, but most of them will be fine early on.

Congratulations!

Congrats! I flew when I was around 9 weeks and it was fine. You get a low dose of radiation but it's harmless! I didn't have travel insurance as my journey was within the EU so can't help with that. Might help put your mind at ease if you tell them though? And make sure to take your maternity notes if you've been given them. Don't hesitate to mention your pregnancy to people if you need to (I had NVP all the way through so often warned people)

I had a long haul flight at 9 weeks and was totally fine. The turbulence when landing was rouuuugh though. Take into account that pilots and flight attendants are not advised to quick flying through pregnancy. As for travel insurance, my standard work insurance had early pregnancy included as standard (as long as you’re not travelling against your doctors orders).

I am currently in Portugal and am 7+1. There is no issue on the flight. I think the key is to make sure you are hydrated if you are going to hot climate and not too much sun.

Thank you all. Nice to have some reassurance. I will just call my insurers tomorrow just to double check.
