Due in October and looking for a baby carrier recommendation please? Love taking my dog for long walks and don’t want to wreck my pram on beaches \ rough terrain. Ideally if it can be used from as close to newborn as possible would be fab!

I had a caboo for when he was newborn and I now have an ergobaby 360 and a beco Gemini. I’d recommend them all to be honest.

If there’s a sling library near you you can try them out and hire them so you can see what works for you.

I have an ergo baby omni 360. Would highly recommend it . Both me and my husband wear our baby and it's super quick to adjust for our height differences . Was probably the best thing I have bought .

Loved our Hana Baby from very young

Mamaruga zensling- soft and stretchy so lovely for newborns but has buckles so is best of both worlds. Love it so so much. My DD is nearly one and she’s still in it

I second the sling library if you have one nearby, I have the boba 4g and find it really easy to use and baby looks comfortable. They are quite pricey new but you can get a fair few years out of them, there's usually some on eBay etc.

Ergobaby **

SLING LIBRARY ! Try before you buy. Weve used 6 different ones so far. From a stretchy liffft sling to most recently a woven Korean podegi - I might be obsessed!

Ergobaby is great. I strongly recommend going to a sling library even if you know what carrier you want or going and taking your carrier with you so they can show you exactly how to carry baby in it. I see so many people carrying their babies really poorly positioned, it is a good idea to get advice on something so important.

Definitely go to a sling library. I had a stretchy fabric wrap when DD was tiny which was lovely (once you've mastered getting it on) and now got an ergo 360 as she's bigger. I love the ergo-so comfy and I can wear her for a good few hours without any problem. I've even used it to carry a toddler on my back which was comfy too. I've tried the bjorn original but it's not a patch in terms of comfort in comparison to the ergo.

I had a caboo for the first couple of months and now a connecta. I love the connecta, so easy and comfy to use. A lot more streamlined than the alternatives too.

I LOVE my Lillebaby. It goes from newborn to toddler. I've used it for both my kids and it was probably the best baby purchase we made. It does front and back carry as well as inward and outward facing. When my baby was little she loved being snuggled up on my chest but now she's 11 months she loves being on my back. Back carrying is fantastic because it let's me get so much done without a baby trying to grab everything in front of her. I'm quite petite and my husband is tall and broad but it fits both of us very comfortably. Super versatile carrier. I would highly recommend it. I also have a ring sling which is wonderful for chucking in a handbag and a quick carry but not great for longer wearing or hikes because it eventually gets heavy on one shoulder.

I echo the advice of all the previous posters to get yourself to a sling library if you have one near you. I initially tried a close caboo and just could not get on with it. Ended up buying an ergobaby after trying one out which I loved and me and my husband could both use it.

Sling library and try an ergobaby 360.. perfect for us

Louise7777 · 24/06/2019 06:39

I used a close caboo to start with which h was great however could only use until lo was 4 months and he wriggled around and it didn't feel secure. I then rented an ergo baby but didn't like it, felt bunky and a faff then bought a tula second hand and I love it. It folds smaller than the ergo slightly, is much softer material both dh and I use it front and back and lo is now 14 months and still very comfy in it. He will happily be carried for a long time in there and its very comfy. Going back I wish id just bought the tula from the start with the newborn insert and not bothered with the caboo as I feel I wasted some money with that really

Also recommend Beco Gemini but do go to a sling library. I've used my Beco from 6 weeksish with both DC and DC1 who.is now 3.4 had a nap on my back in it yesterday so we're definitely getting value for money from it!
