So I've been sent to hospital a few times during my pregnancy due to protein in my wee, possible waters breaking, odd swelling and other symptoms. Last time I went was yesterday with the following symptoms:
-very swollen legs, feet, and hands. Swollen feet are normal for me but the rest is not.
-possible mucus plug lost
-odd pain below right ribs
-blurred vision
-faint feeling
-headache
-reduced movements
I was monitored and they sent me home after taking some bloods. I was told they'd update me with my blood results yesterday evening but they didn't so I called today. They asked if any of my symptoms are better and I said no I've had a killer headache since 2:30am that paracetamol hasn't helped, my vision is getting worse, and the swelling is worse too. They said right we want you to come in for monitoring again as a high blood pressure doesn't always happen right away. I called family members for a lift to hospital, who were reluctant to take me and instead told me how I can take my blood pressure in the town I live in. My readings are 135/76 and a pulse 110bpm. No idea if this is normal, so I call the unit again and tell them. This was over an hour ago. Midwife says she'll talk to a doctor. I haven't heard anything since.
I have such an awful feeling that something is wrong, I can't get to hospital without the family members who are refusing to take me, my headache is getting worse, I cried walking into town to do my blood pressure because my whole bump felt tight and I honestly thought I was about to faint from the pain.
Now I'm just sat here worrying, feeling angry at my family (long history of them being useless not just today) and just feeling sad because I can't do anything if there is anything wrong.
I know nobody can help me but I just needed to get all of this out sorry

It could be pre-eclampsia which can be fatal to you and your baby. I’m sorry to be harsh but is there no other way you can get to the hospital? Bus/taxi/partner?

Bambamber · 19/06/2019 13:40

I'm sorry you're finding things so difficult. Are you not able to get a bus or a taxi to the hospital? Have you got any friends that can take you?

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 19/06/2019 13:41

You need medical attention, repeated blood pressures checks and the baby will probably need constant monitoring which can only be done in hospital.

Can you get a taxi/Uber to the hospital?

mylittlenugget · 19/06/2019 13:46

Everyone suspects preeclampsia but I think because my blood pressure isn't high that's why the family member is refusing to take me. I honestly have no other way of getting there, the only two people who could take me are together in a town almost an hour away and refusing to take me (probably me being a dick at this point because I'm so angry but I feel they don't want to come and get me because the person they're with "needs" a new outfit for some meeting tomorrow).
If I got really stuck I have enough money to get a bus to the town next to the one with the hospital but that would be an hour walk on a busy road. I feel so stupid having so little money this week, normally I make sure I've got enough.
I'm going to call the unit again to see what they want me to do now but fairly certain they'll want me in (not that I'm complaining I want to be there!).

It does sound like possibly pre eclampsia which is very serious. Regardless of this, if you are concerned you must get checked over and I'm speaking as a mum who didn't feel 'right' at 31weeks and went to get checked and had an emergency section within an hour of arriving.
Can you get a taxi or even a bus to hospital? Any friends who would be able to help?

xJune88 · 19/06/2019 13:50

Get to hospital!

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 19/06/2019 13:51

Do you have friend who can book and pay for an uber for you?

Roxy8203 · 19/06/2019 13:52

If you can't get there phone an ambulance

mylittlenugget · 19/06/2019 13:53

Spoke to the family member, they've said when they're finished with what they're doing they'll come check on me (probably won't be for at least two hours). I've called the unit again but went to voicemail so I've left a message. Im hoping they tell me to still come in because if they do surely I can't be fobbed off with my blood pressure is fine and they don't want to take me??
Already trying to find alternative ways to get to hospital when I go into labour because this person has proven them self so unreliable. And I'm definitely going to learn to drive as soon as I'm back to work so I never have to ask this person for a favour again!
I usually have a few people who can possibly take me but they're all either at work or unavailable (for very valid reasons) and so can't help out. I had two people today that were supposedly on hand if I needed them and I'm so angry they've decided it isn't worth it

Sorry but this person can't be relied on. Call an ambulance right now. Don't get this wrong.

mylittlenugget · 19/06/2019 14:01

This is going to sound so pathetic but I have no friends. And of the people who used to be friends but drifted apart for whatever reasons none would help me out in an emergency (hence the drifting to be honest).
The only people I have are my mum, my Nan, my mother in law, and my grandad that are available mon to fri. Mother in law doesn't work but has a teenage son who needs round the clock watching and is disabled herself so can't leave at the drop of the hat. My mum is supposedly always available regardless of if she's working or not, but isn't listening to me today. She's with my Nan who works shifts and is usually available but again doesn't want to take me today. And my grandad doesn't have his car until 5:30pm most days as my uncle uses it for work (he works hours away and so he can't be asked for a lift).
We also don't have Uber where I live and a taxi to the hospital would cost over £40 I believe. And not enough for a bus. If I get really desperate and I haven't heard back from the unit in the next hour and my mum is still being useless I have one person I could beg the remainder of the bus fare that I need in theory but that's only if they're working and if they actually have any cash on them. Otherwise it'll be begging the bus driver to be lenient and trust I'll pay the rest of the fare Friday

Was it a medical professional who checked your BP earlier? Just asking as an automated machine/unqualified person may have checked it incorrectly.

FutureMrsD · 19/06/2019 14:02

I would call an ambulance OP x

BitchPeas · 19/06/2019 14:05

Where’s your partner is all this?

Ravingstarfish · 19/06/2019 14:05

Call an ambulance.
If you’re old enough to be pregnant you’re old enough to rely on yourself, sorry

MynameisJune · 19/06/2019 14:14

What about the baby’s dad?

Worlds0kayestmum · 19/06/2019 14:40

Can you speak to your community midwife and see if she can arrange a transfer to hospital?

notapizzaeater · 19/06/2019 14:53

Have you rang the hospital back and told them all this ?

CN your partner not help ? Neighbour ?

Tbh if a neighbour was stuck like this whether I knew them well or not I'd help them.

Tyburn · 19/06/2019 15:09

I also have no friends, right now, let us help you!

I have Multiple Sclerosis, and like many people can tell you how much impact STRESS and ANXIETY have upon ANY physical symptoms.
It can just whip up symptoms that you swear are real, but that really are nothing more than in your head.

So first off, do what you can to calm down and have faith in the medical professionals.

Now this'll be hard because not knowing is the scariest thing of all, your mind goes crazy filling in details.

If you really are that concerned call for an ambulance, but if you are on the fence or don't want to worry them, call NHS direct instead, if after you've spoken to that trained medical professional on the other end, they don't seem to be all that concerned, then you KNOW there isn't any rush or real need to be worried - those awesome bods ALWAYS err on the side of caution.

Whatever happens, wishing you the best

Sessy19 · 19/06/2019 15:48

At almost 37w, it’s pretty lame if you to not have a contingency for this. You could be in labour.

Call an ambulance.

Sessy19 · 19/06/2019 15:49

And stop blaming everyone else for not helping you, you’re going to be a parent soon!!

anitagreen · 19/06/2019 17:57

You need to ring an ambulance stop making excuses and relying on other people I'm sorry I'm being harsh but you need to sort this out now. It's not a joke

mylittlenugget · 19/06/2019 18:12

Am in hospital sorry has been a whirlwind. Partner doesn't drive. All hooked up. Of course baby decided to start moving when we arrived but going to really make clear she hasn't been so it's hardly a true show of her movements. Blood pressure is high for me but still normal so not sure what will happen there
