Does anyone here understand the Doppler numbers on ultrasound?

I have a scan tomorrow to follow up my Doppler from last week done at the 36 week sequential growth scan.
The baby is small. My consultant said to me if he didn't "like" the result he would deliver baby following this Doppler scan..
So I don't know what a number to like is..
I am not actually seeing him until next week so I would need to see the reg at day care tomorrow but I want to know what about my numbers he didn't like last week so I know how prepared to be mentally tomorrow for a c section

Please help me understand this:

Following as having dopplers too! Sorry I don’t have the answers but from looking at the scales on the right the numbers seem to be around the 50th centile so I would’ve thought that was a good thing 🤔 I literally have no clue what I’m talking about though 🤣
Hope you get the answers you need x

The numbers themselves are less important than the trends. The reassuring bit is the end-diastolic flow. If that’s positive, baby’s getting oxygenated blood.

If it’s absent or reverse, they’ll recommend immediate delivery. If it’s positive but the PI, RI and SD values are increasing, I imagine they’ll monitor you closely for another fortnight - although this is the grey area, where different obstetricians’ opinions and your medical history, the reasons for dopplers, any other complications etc will all be weighed up.

@Lexyness that's what I thought which is why I didn't think much about it.. until I started googling and got confused.

@AsMuchUseAsAMarzipanDildo thank you for this , so ultimately should I just want to know whether the word says positive or negative?

This baby is 5th centile or below and I had my last baby pre term.

It's only that I am basically very very small myself at 5ft 1 that I thought I would have another small baby.

So if the two numbers up above get bigger does that mean there is more resistance in the umbilical cord/ the baby is not getting as much oxygenated blood.

At that point in time since the consultant did read the results and say fine I presume that meant he was ok.

It's such a minefield

Thank you for taking the time to send me an explanation x

I've had it explained to me.

The lines where they have the measurements for the blood flow.

If they are anywhere left of centre it's good. Anywhere to the right of the centre it's not good.
I'm so so so relieved!

TodAy the measurements were literally as far over on the left as possible. I think I was poorly last week as I had a lot of other issues

@roundligament so pleased to hear that! 👍🏻
I’ve finally got my notes out of the car to have a look this morning! My end diastolic flow just says present in my notes! Only have a reading for PI not the others you have but they are to the left of the middle (slightly - but higher numbers than yours though) but it was a little bit less at the last scan! I’ve got 2 weeks until my next scan, 🤞🏻 my number doesn’t rise as I’m only 32 weeks tmrw 😕 good to know what it all means though!
I’m same as you, under 5ft 😳 and have previously had 2 babies on 1st percentile and 1 on 12th(all 39weeks spontaneous), plus with high blood pressure they keeping an eye on me, but I personally think this is my biggest baby yet! x

@Lexyness I'll take a photo of it so you can see when I get off the bed and go get them from the car 😂

Good news about your numbers too. This is why I think we have grown small babies. Because basically, we are small.

I'm 37 weeks now which I never thought would happen. It's actually very uncomfortable but I would rather safely grow the baby as long as possible then have to cope with a baby in scbu in again. Selfishly because it hurts so much traipsing there after a c section.

My son who was like 10th centile is now so enormous he's over the 90th centile and just so strong and healthy. He looked like a wet cat when he was born and it broke my heart. Knowing how much he has thrived out of the womb has really put me at ease with this baby but there was nothing worse then a consultant grabbing the ctg out the midwives hands and asking me about steroids last week whilst scrutinising the Doppler results.

I hope the rest of your pregnancy is really smooth I'll come back with a photo to show you what I mean for the lines but if it's left of centre it means blood flow is good and placenta is functioning really well xx
