Anterior placenta

Hi all,

I have an anterior placenta which explains why I don't feel much movement. Just wondering if anyone else has had this and whether it affected delivery at all? Some people have told me it meant they had to have a c section but others have said it shouldn't make a difference.

I have an appt with midwife next week so will query it with her but just wondered if anyone has any experience with it?

Thanks

I have one this time and had with DS. It doesn't effect your delivery unless your placenta is low and covering the cervix. An anterior placenta on its own just means it's at the front and basically cushions movement.

You may still feel a good deal of movement depending where exactly it's positioned.

If it's low they will have told you / told you at your 20 week scan because they'll need to check at 36ish weeks to see if it's moved. If it's not moved they will prob do a c section

I had anterior placenta with second and a water birth so didn't affect delivery for mine.

Both of mine were anterior. No effect. Two vaginal births.

NHS has a straightforward section on this (specifically placenta previa)... 1 in 1
200 women have low lying anterior placenta, of those, 90% have parents which have essentially moved out of the way 32 weeks, meaning c section (for this) is not necessary. I only know as I looked it up for myself yesterday!

Typos! Placentas, not parents Grin

I have an anterior placenta and am planning a home birth which my midwife is very supportive of (she actually suggested it before I had the chance to ask) so for me the anterior placenta hasn’t caused any concern about the birth.
I do hate it though, I’m 39 weeks tomorrow and still feel like I don’t feel her move as much as other people. Makes me very anxious and I’m constantly thinking about her movements
