Onset of severe pain!

Hi ladies!

Probably nothing to worry about but I'd rather get some advice before contacting midwife!

For the past 3 days I've had an onset of severe pain in the right hand side of my tummy radiating to my back, it's more painful in the back and hurts to take breaths! It's not constant, it comes and goes throughout the day but when it comes it takes me by surprise and really hurts!

Anyone had this before?

How many weeks are u? I had pain on my left side at start of my pregnancy x

Charms28black · 14/06/2019 19:22

Yes. I did. I don’t want to scare you so I won’t say anything about my experience- I’d say always check with a midwife. I hope all goes well xx

rebeccaxxxxx · 15/06/2019 08:50

I'm 19 weeks pregnant, I think it's some sort of water infection or kidney infection it's so painful I just cant get hold of any damn midwife with it being the weekend so my next port of call is either a and e or our of hours doctors

It probably is a UTI. But do get checked. I hated being an inconvenience but you need to feel relaxed and not in pain! Drop in clinic? They’d always rather you checked. Hope you don’t have a long wait x

FaithInfinity · 15/06/2019 12:13

I’d go to OOH, pain there could be all sorts of things, my first concern is that it might be your appendix. They can do appendix ops safely whilst pregnant if it comes to that. Please get checked out today.

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 15/06/2019 12:32

You need to contact out of hours doctors now.

rebeccaxxxxx · 15/06/2019 12:43

I don't have my appendix anymore, had them removed a few years ago. But that's kind of what the pain feels like. I hate having to go and inconvenience everyone but I has rang 111 and they'd told me to go to a and e just to get checked out

Could be Tietze syndrom, which is harmless but very painful. It would be best to have it checked though.

rebeccaxxxxx · 15/06/2019 13:57

Whatever it is its bloody painful I wish it would go away!

I would definitely get an ooh appointment or, if none available/no walk in centre in your area, go to A&E as it could well be a UTI or kidney infection and prompt treatment for these are important in pregnancy.

Starlight84 · 15/06/2019 18:03

Last sat I was in really bad pain, starting on my right side, felt like stabbing when I breathed in, then went right round my body and shot up my neck. I called 111 and was told a dr would call in 2 hours. They never did and I fell asleep. Woke up Sunday ok. I’m beginning to think it was severe bad wind. Haven’t had it since. I’ll be feeling better when I’ve had my scan as I’m still convinced I’m not pregnant and it’s all in my head xx

CrotchetyQuaver · 15/06/2019 18:32

If they've told you to go to a&e then just go there and join the queue! Don't check with randoms in the internet, you've already been told what you should be doing!

rebeccaxxxxx · 15/06/2019 18:56

I'd go to A and E if I could get there but my partner's mum thinks its just growing pains so won't take me, it definitely does not feel like growing pains its excruciating

tirerout · 15/06/2019 18:59

I'd go with your instincts and get to a and e. It could be anything and it is better to get checked out when you are pregnant. Are you able to get there safely with someone?

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 15/06/2019 22:12

I hope you have got the medical attention you need.

ItsMyLastOne · 15/06/2019 22:16

I keep getting this too but I don't have any UTI or anything and I've been told it's probably just the position of the baby as he's breech. I had it with my second who was also breech and it disappeared when she was turned.

ChequersDog · 15/06/2019 22:18

Go. It’s probably a UTI but upper right pain is also a symptom of HELPP syndrome. You need to be seen urgently. Get an Uber if no one will take you.

ballsdeep · 15/06/2019 22:19

Gallstones? I had them in pregnancy, the worst pain I've ever felt.

Rememberallball · 15/06/2019 22:56

@rebeccaxxxxx, with the best will in the world, it’s not your partner’s mum’s pregnancy and she doesn’t get to decide what is causing the pain - unless she is a fully qualified Dr/midwife who has access to laboratory facilities to run necessary tests.

You have spoken to appropriate medical professionals who have said to go to A&E to be on the safe side. Therefore you should go and get checked over. UTI’s and kidney infections are not something they take lightly in pregnancy because of the consequences of no treatment (can lead to premature labour in worst case scenarios). Please get yourself seen xx
