When should I tell my boss?

Hello! I'm not familiar with this app so I hope I'm doing this correctly, hehe!
I have found out that I'm pregnant 😀 I'm super excited, however, I need some advice.
I work as a nursery nurse / nursery assistant 4 days a week, with children ages 2 - 4 years. I know that nurseries etc are a hotspot for germs, viruses and infections, such as slapcheek, scarlet fever, etc. When do you think I should tell my boss that I'm pregnant? I would like to lay off until 12 weeks, but doing the job I do, I think it may be risky waiting that long.
Thanks for your time :D
Xx

I really think honesty is the best policy straight off! I personally am only 5 weeks but was having 48 hours HCG tests so I told my boss and he was great. I work in a very blokey place too (me and 35 men!) but he was fab. I told him I am very high risk due to previous miscarriages so there will be lots of appointments but I will make time up as much as possible.

If you need anything or are ill etc its much easier having been honest, good luck x

I’m deputy manager of a preschool and I wrote this week to inform my boss/manager as my scan date came through and I knew it would be through work hours! I didn’t want to tell anyone yet but apart from lying about where I was going and losing pay when I don’t need to I came clean! I am not telling anyone else! The bump can grow and that will be in! I also bound them to the confidentiality policy as I do not want anyone else in the setting to know as my family don’t know yet and it’s not fair others know before them.

Regards to illness and infections I was told chicken pox is ok as I’ve had them as a child but slapped cheek is a no no and I’d have to leave work and maybe get checked at the birth Xx
