Feeling unwell at 31weeks (moany thread)

Started to feel unwell yesterday, other than feeling sick and actually wanting to be sick and not being able to, I can’t put my finger on any other specific symptoms. (Only had slight nausea in 1st trimester no physical sickness) My husband and colleague both say I look dreadful, I’ve been unable to eat and can’t drink much either although I’m really trying. I did manage a little lunch and apparently looked healthier afterwards!

I have chronic hypertension anyway so under strict care and as a result I see my mw fortnightly and practice nurse the opposite weeks. My blood pressure has been well controlled since my consultant prescribed Labetalol at 16weeks!
At my nurses app today my blood pressure is now low and I’m dehydrated (to be expected since I’m struggling to drink)

I didn’t realise that nausea/sickness can be a symptom of preeclampsia, but surely if my blood pressure has dropped there is no chance I have this?

Im not sure if I’m just being a worry wart. Has anyone else felt like this? My husband is now away for a week so I’m home alone with 3 kids feeling fed up and hoping this is just a phase or another pregnancy symptom that I just didn’t get with the other dc’s!

No experience of this OP but if in doubt I would definitely give your midwife a call to check her opinion - especially with your high blood pressure. They'd much rather you bother them over nothing than have something go unchecked.

Thanks, I will see how I go overnight. The issue I have is I don’t have a contact number for my mw, I just have the urgent number for the hospital, and being a minimum of an hours drive to get there it’s less than ideal if I’m worrying over nothing. (Especially with 3 other kids to sort out and husband being away) also since my blood pressure has gone the opposite way and is now low 🙈 (not crazy low but much lower than my tablets have been keeping me)
I have been told I don’t look so bad now I’ve managed to eat something! Going to try to get an early night and have plenty of fluids on my bedside table, fingers crossed I’ll feel better in the morning.

I'm 33 weeks and have felt awful the past week. My nausea has come back but the midwife said its common in the third trimester as you get another surge of hormones.. and the tiredness is killing me but apparently my iron is low. Have u had ur iron checked coz that can make u feel unwell.

I had pre-eclampsia during my 1st pregnancy. At 34 weeks I felt unwell, over the course of a few days was vomiting & increasingly unable to keep even fluids down & was generally a bit out of it. Luckily someone who cared - not my ex unfortunately - insisted on getting a taxi & taking me to the maternity hospital. While I was being examined I began having convulsions & couldn't see well. When I told the midwife I couldn't focus to sign the consent form for the emergency C-section she said she just had to witness me touching the pen to the paper, which I just about managed. Both baby & I ended up fine but it could have gone very differently. The doctors & midwives would ALWAYS rather you err on the side of caution when pre-eclampsia is involved & contact them. They can manage the condition if they're given the time to treat it so don't be afraid to get in touch with them & they can put your mind at rest. Very best wishes to you & the little one.

I'm currently in triage for suspected pre-eclampsia, I'm 34+1. I also have essential hypertension outside of pregnancy so consultant led.

I was induced last year with DD 4 weeks early because of pre-eclampsia. Got admitted for 2 weeks. My BP was quite low during the day and very high through the night right up until I got induced.

I hope you managed to speak to your midwife, but any concerns you have phone triage, it's always better getting checked out.
