Hi everyone

Proper newbie here and I need some reassurance/advice.

In March I had a suspected miscarriage, I was very early on and my GP felt that as it was so early on that she couldn't be 100% sure it was one. She also didn't want to put in on the record, because where we live we can't get any fertility help as my fiancé has kids, this could change and a record of a miscarriage on my notes could have affected this in the future.

Anyway we are now 6 weeks pregnant and feeling pretty ok so far, sore boobs, tired, wanting to eat anything in site.

On Saturday I had some cramping and then last night I went to the toilet and when I wiped there were strings and small spots of dark brown and now I'm really freaking out that there is something wrong.

Is this 'normal' at this stage? Am I worrying about nothing?

I've never done this before and with my miscarriage previously I'm really trying NOT to freak.

Sorry for the really long post, I have no one else to really asks and I know you lovely folks are really helpful and kind so any reassurance would be really welcome.

X

Congratulations!

Yes that can be normal in pregnancy. I bled brown blood at 11 weeks and panicked. Baby is now 13 weeks old. Cramps are normal in pregnancy and you'll find you get them at different stages of pregnancy when everything's stretching to accommodate baby.

Have you got your date through for booking in appointment with the midwife? I'm not sure which district you are but with mine you see the midwife at 8weeks and then scanned at 12.

Could you afford to have a private reassurance scan? They're about £60 but will give you peace of mind.

I'm sorry about your miscarriage.

I would suggest going to your GP. Anything like that is better to be checked out. Sometimes that can be normal and part of pregnancy but also there will be times when it’s something more sinister and needs checking.
In terms of the emotional side, it’s hard as I had a loss last year and now just over 13 weeks with first. I have a scan tomorrow which I’m trying to push to the back of my mind but it’s proving really hard 💜. One thing I have learnt is us women are superheroes for what we go through. So always remember be kind to yourself and like you say there’s always support on here if you need it 😊

Thanks ladies. I’m looking at a private scan and seeing there’s a place near me at work so I could go this week.

I’m so excited about being a FTM but obviously worried about anything that seems weird!

I really appreciate your replies and being so kind x

I’ve had another bit of discharge so I’ve called the hospital and they’ve booked me in tomorrow for an internal scan just to check. Just hoping that everything is ok x
