Clexane in pregnancy

Hello so I've come in at immediate risk for dvt and I'm seeing a consultant this month with the view to starting clexane but from what I've been reading I'm pretty anxious about it can anyone share their experiences of taking this in pregnancy? I had it post birth due to c section but not really during the pregnancy?

I took blood thinner for the first 12 weeks (because of mild ohss from ivf). It's not that big of a deal, really. It will get you over any issue you may have of needles!!

I recommend icing the area before and not rubbing the injection site after. You will bruise easily.

What are you anxious about? I'd far rather take a silly injection every day than get a blood clot...

I was on Clexane until 15 weeks following IVF and, due to raised VTE risk, will be going back in it from 28 weeks till 6 weeks post delivery (I’m currently 23+3 so got a few weeks till I start it again) Only thing I’d say is, this time, I’m going to inject into my thighs rather than my belly as it will be rather big (I’m expecting twins)!!

I took a blood thinner from embryo transfer to 12 weeks - GP has recommended I carry on until I see a consultant as I have a clotting disorder and am also high risk of DVTs. No issues at all. Baby seems to be on track.

I had to take last pregnancy ( last year) and will this pregnancy from about 26-28 weeks until 6 weeks postnatally as I have had a large bloody clot before. I alternate stomach each side and then each thigh and just make sure you don’t run after which you will want to do.
I would often get a lump under skin which is like a little bloody clot ( haematomo) and I did bruise badly but it’s really not that bad.

It's actually not mesnt to be given in the arms or legs as evidence shows it's not as effective.

I took Clexane from 5 weeks to 6 weeks post natal. It was a lot of needles! It was fine. I got used to giving myself the injections and I am quite squeamish. I found injecting myself in my stomach was easiest. I found spots where it didn't seem to hurt or bruise - away from a nerve maybe? It wasn't a big deal.

In the end, it was necessary to kept my baby alive - I had already lost a little boy due to a blood clotting issue so I didn't think twice about the needles.

And it worked, we had our beautiful dd after a 4 miscarriages, so totally worth it.

All the best for your pregnancy.

Do you have any specific questions you want answering op?

I had it a few weeks ago as treatment for suspected Pulmonary Embolism.
It was fairly sore, but not unmanageable and because I was an inpatient it was given to me by a nurse each day rather than doing my own injection.
I was assured it was safe in pregnancy, and have a few friends who are on it for thyroid problems in pregnancy.

Hello I'm most anxious about what it does to the calcium in your body putting you at risk of osteoporosis which due to taking levo thyroxine I'm already at risk of x I will need a c section also so I'm worried about the bleeding I suppose as no one has explained anything to me.

I've never had a clot don't have a clotting disorder but my age my super large varicose vein and bmi now put me at a higher risk than previous pregnancies which were under age 35.
I did wonder if I can bring down bmi I could avoid it but will need to review with the consultant.

Also dreading seeing the consultant he tried to perform my erpc after one of my miscarriages but punctured my womb then when explaining it too me told me to carry on as before I knew I had lost the baby? Like wtf so all in all not looking forward to that sorry to waffle
