Flying after 27 weeks letter

I wanted to visit family when I will be 26 weeks on the flight out and 28 on my return.
The airline I have in mind needs a letter from 27 weeks.
I just had a browse online and it is £35 from the GP to get travel letters (not sure if they actually do them for pregnancy, just saw their fees on line)

A part of me thinks, if I don't need one at 26, and I have no document to prove I am only 26, can I not just suck my belly in on the way back? Grin

I have not found much info on line. Any experience?
I want to fly with Vueling

It will cost a lot more to get stuck somewhere away from home. I'd ask the midwife to do a letter or pay the £35 for peace of mind. Also you won't be covered by travel insurance if you don't follow their rules so I'd check them too.

I went a holiday a few years ago, 31weeks on return. I had a right fight to get a letter to fly. Not that anyone thought there was a problem just no one would put their name to it.
Midwife said it was GP, GP said it was consultant (3rd baby so under consultant no issues other than I have under active thyroid) consultant said it was GP.
Eventually consultant gave in 4 days before we flew, I had been trying for 2 weeks!!

It wasn't asked for it on either flight!!

They may just refuse to let you fly. Even with my fit to fly note they was still reluctant to let me on the plane when we was about to board our second flight home.

My midwife did my fit to fly note

This is my worry too, that I book the flights and then the GP doesn't want to sign it.
Or that they give me problems on the flight.

I can't really fly the week before 😬

Insurance not a concern because I don't need to declare pregnancy as a pre-existing condition, I used them last month.

Recently got flight home at 26+6, no one even asked me how far along I was and certainly didn't ask for a letter (flew jet2) - I had all my notes with me just in case.

My midwife did it for free as the GP charge. I was 31 weeks and wore a maxi dress and blazer and didn't get asked atall!

Thanks!!
It just seems all a bit of a gamble, people with letters being given trouble so it makes me want to just not say a thing.
I won't see my midwife for another month to ask and I wanted to book soon...
