Just ate 4 cheese strings after giving in to a craving and just read the pack to find it says unripened now I’m worrying!! Should they be safe to eat and pasteurised??

Yes, ripened cheese (with mould) is the thing you're supposed to avoid.

Cheesestrings are made of highly processed cheese (plastic cheese my nieces and nephews call them) and are fine.

Unripened is the stuff you wanna eat!

Man I miss mould ripened cheeses....

MissPollyHadADolly19 · 07/06/2019 19:57

Bloody should be okay they're my main craving, Id be damned if they werent!!

dementedpixie · 07/06/2019 20:02

It also says they have been heated so even if they werent pasteurised to start with (they were pasteurised though) they would be safe after that. They are aimed at children so are perfectly safe for pregnant women

You can eat hard blue cheeses uncooked and soft/ mouldy cheeses if they have been cooked

faelavie · 07/06/2019 20:51

@dementedpixie I know, but I'm not a blue cheese fan, I like cold brie or camembert spread on crackers, so good....

Helsvamp · 08/06/2019 06:03

Since when can we eat blue cheese. This is my 4th pregnancy and they said no to that

HerSymphonyAndSong · 08/06/2019 06:07

Hard blue cheese (eg Stilton) is fine
