Hi i know this is mainly a womans forum but i wanted some advice. My wife an me have been ttc for just over a year now had been having unprotected sex for number of years before we really started ttc properly. I had a semen analysis done in jan 19 and doctor said it was normal only for me to find out a few days ago at the consultants that my motility is low. 16% rapid progression. Dont understand the other values yet.

Any one any success stories of having these problems and getting pregant naturally.

Thanks

Are you taking any pills that might effect motility? Smoking? Drinking? Coffee? If yes, cut that all out while trying to conceive. And take male fertility vitamins. A very good brand is fertelix. It’s expensice, but increases sperm and motility. My friends husband saw a specialist and they recommended this. It takes 3 months for diet etc to take effect.

I am no fertility expert, but perhaps someone might come along that is. Yes, going to the gym can help. Also, wearing loose boxers and night tight briefs. Basically you can google all this. My brother in law had low motility. It took the 4 years to conceive and they were only able to have one child. He quit coffee and that helped, plus took vitamins. My advice to you would be:

Eat healthy balance diet
Quit coffee and alcohol temporarily
Exercise a few times a week
Get good sleep
Take vitamins - in particular fertelix.

Make sure your partner is also having healthy diet etc.

My dp was told to take zinc.. Worked 2 months later with our eldest

My fiance was the same. He took proconceive for a approx 4 months as reccommended. Then he started taking Maca tablets as advised by a herbal and health food friend. We fell pregnant approx a month or so after he started the maca, unfortunatly we miscarried but am happy to say that we fell pregnant again 3 months after again and we are now 19w +4d pregnant 😍i cant say for sure that it was the maca but when my friend told me about them she said she had 2 success stories already, we were her third 😁

Will look into macca and congratulations to use.. have got babystart fertility supplement just started taking today and changes to diet are underway. Great to hear that there is still hope.

@Brucey89 Sorry to hear you are struggling. My OH half and I took a long time to fall pregnant. When we both had tests done, his sperm had only 2% morphology. We were on route for IVF but decided to try as many things as we could naturally first.

After two months of taking lots of supplements and a few lifestyle changes we fell pregnant naturally. Unfortunately we lost the baby at 15 weeks and a test soon after showed that my OHs sperm had taken a massive nosedive: everything was bottomed out, low count, 0% morphology, almost no motility, I felt almost no hope after such a disastrous result.

However, we started up with everything we were doing before and within 8 weeks we were pregnant - currently 24 weeks now! I’ve listed everything we did below: it’s quite an exhaustive list but once we got into a routine, it worked well for us, and was worth all the hassle and money in the end! Good luck!

Vitamin C 2000mg
Vitamin E 100IU
Selenium 200mcg
Pyconegol (pine bark extract) 100mg
Co Enzyme Q10 120mg
Fertility smoothie every day with whole milk and mixture of fruit, spinach, Maca powder and chia seeds
Almonds, walnuts and Brazil nuts
Lots of sweet potato, red pepper, carrot, oranges, spinach, broccoli and limited processed food
We ate a lot of organic food
No baths
No alcohol
No long bike rides
Lots of water
Acupuncture - this was expensive but we both believe this was one of the main factors behind our success
We also got a special herbal tea mixture that our acupuncturist made up - she specialised in fertility

Ditto for CoQ10 as there is some research on it regarding sperm motility. And, a water and fat-soluble form absorbs better. Check with your doctor on new supplements as well.

All the advice here is good but remember one SA is not conclusive. My husband's progressive motility was maybe about 12% (I can't quite remember) and we fell pregnant in 2 months - I'm not 17 weeks. Good luck.

BaweB · 14/06/2019 07:13

Now 17 weeks!
