Hello, As the subject heading says really. For those that have gone through the experience could you tell me what happened with you? Good/bad I don't mind I just think knowing something is better than going in totally blind! Plus if you have any advice from your experience I'd be interested to hear it! Many thanks xxxx

I was induced about 9.30 a.m and spent the day watching Wimbledon! I don't know if it affected my labour but my daughter was born around 4.a.m. and I had no cuts or tears. Full of energy after birth.

I was induced with DC2. Pessary in at 12.30pm, lots of walking around the hospital grounds all afternoon. Went in to labour around 1am and DS was born at 4am. No tears or stitches. Recovery was fantastic and quick.

Induced for my last. Unfortunately didn't get it going enough so had to repeat the following day. First attempt Saturday midday, second Sunday at 5pm born Monday at 7am. No tears etc. Just gas and air. (I was induced early so this may be why it took longer to get going - 37 weeks)

Might not work right away. Take lots of thing to do (reading, films, knitting, whetevs) and eat. There might be lots of quiet waiting so try to take advantage if that. Wear clothes your happy walking round in and lying in bed in. I found being in that environment for such a long time stressful (bleak small room, sounds of screaming through the walls, sirens going off, running in the corridor) and would advice either bringing homely stuff to distract you or finding somewhere to do the waiting in if that’s possible with whatever level of monitoring you have. They injected me 2 or 3 times and eventually broke my waters. Then baby shot out half an hour later. Great success medically. I was troubled by the experience, it was more painful than my other births (all no pain relief) and the staff were really unkind- used to dealing with emergencies so lots of barking orders, doing examinations which could have been postponed while I begged them not to etc., they even pinned me to the bed during the labour Hmm I don’t mean to terrify you but better to know. For my next birth I did a course with my birth partner about asserting your needs and wants during birth. Baby was fine and I was fine so it wasn’t that bad!

Should say they started the process around 8am and baby was born around 4am (I think).

I was induced at 39 weeks. Pessary went in at 3.30pm. Labour started gently at 7pm then waters broke at 3.30am and my DD arrived at 6.15am. I did have to have an episiotomy because my DD panicked on the way out but it wasn't as bad as everyone had said they were. She was out quickly, they stitched me (it was a side cut) and it healed in a couple of weeks but didn't affect the day to day and I was pleased to have her out quickly! GrinGood luck and I hope you enjoy your new addition to your family!

In my experience expect nothing to happen. Be prepared to be bored. Hopefully you'll have better luck today but bear it in mind.
