All terrain pram that fits small car

Hi,

I'm new on here so I'm sorry if this is not the best place to post!

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience of an all-terrain pram for newborn that would fit in a Mini One, 3 door?

All the small prams seem to be more city prams.

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks x

I have an out and about pram that fits in a toyota aygo. I take the wheels off though.

Also thats without the newborn bit. I always used a baby carrier when they were too small to fit in pram without carry cot.

You does lay flat though or you can get carry cot bits. Which could be put in back seat

I’ve got a mountain buggy swift which seems quite compact when folded. Worth a look at the dimensions

concernedforthefuture · 05/06/2019 21:29

I was going to suggest a Mountain Buggy Swift. It's a great pram and probably as small as you're going to get for an all-terrain pram.

PBobs · 05/06/2019 21:47

We also have the MB Swift. Folds small. I love it.

Great, thanks ladies, I must check that one out! Nice to have some recommendations before hitting the shops!

Is the swift suitable for off road/pavement? The description made me think you had I have the urban jungle minimum? I don't think the swift has any suspension?

RMarieClaire · 05/06/2019 22:55

We have an iCandy Peach all terrain and it folds pretty small, especially with the wheels off. We have a qashqai, so a biggish boot, but honestly you'd probably fit 3+ in there if needed.

concernedforthefuture · 05/06/2019 23:16

Yes, the Swift is great off-road. Granted it's not as rugged as the Urban Jungle (and has smaller wheels) but it has air tyres for shock absorption and is a solid pram for woodland trails / fields etc. I've had both (and the Duet which is essentially a double Swift).

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 06/06/2019 00:41

I had the Phil and teds vibe (which I loved and can not recommend enough) and could fold that into the boot of a 3 door polo- that was 8 years ago but I don’t imagine they’ve changed the dimensions that much, and the wheels pop off when needed.

PBobs · 06/06/2019 05:55

I agree the Swift doesn't really need the suspension. If you had all the space and didn't mind a heavier/regular weight/bigger pram then Urban Jungle is great. But if you're looking for something more compact Swift is brilliant. It's got lots of bounce.

Megan2018 · 06/06/2019 06:05

The problem I am finding is that the off road pushchairs that are compact are only forward facing once baby out of the carrycot. I really want something that is parent facing.

My boot is tricky (small electric car) but the Silver cross Pioneer fits, just, without the parcel shelf. As does the Ocarro and Nuna Mixx.

Mothercare were very helpful at letting us take them out to try in the boot.

Gettingonabitnow · 06/06/2019 06:06

Bugaboo - really sturdy and fitted in our corsa

Megan2018 · 06/06/2019 06:40

@Gettingonabitnow
Which Bugaboo model?

TrumpsFerret · 06/06/2019 06:42

Phil and Ted sport, folds down small with the wheels off. Bloody brilliant on all terrain.

Caspianberg · 06/06/2019 13:06

The mountain buggy swift now has a parent facing option after carrycot mode. You have to buy the carrycot, and it comes with extra fabric to convert it for 6+ months.

It looks really nifty. The swift is what we will probably go for as need all terrain wheels, but needs to be ok to use in shops and fit in a small car also.

Megan2018 · 06/06/2019 13:46

Thanks @Caspianberg
Will take a look, I think the handle height might be too low for us though, DH is 6ft 3 and it sounds low.

NuffingChora · 06/06/2019 13:49

City mini GT folds really flat and wheels pop off easily, MILES better off road than the Buffalo which is Bugaboo’s supposed off road pram... Also has no-puncture tyres which are a must. GT model is lots better than the standard one.

PBobs · 06/06/2019 17:26

Yeah. The parent facing little seat is awesome on the Swift. The handle is a little low but still worth trying out. I think it's more about handle angle than height sometimes.

Erismorn · 07/06/2019 07:21

Baby jogger Citi mini GT. Great off road, on beaches etc and good for tall parents as well - DH is 6'4" and got on really well with it. We had a Suzuki swift and it fit well in the boot. Pop the wheels off and it would lie flat in the boot with plenty of room for stuff on top. Good one handed fold as well. Lie flat from birth so no extra bits needed. Looking forward to getting it out for baby number 2!

coral13 · 07/06/2019 08:59

Another vote for baby Jogger mini gt.

We have this. It folds in seconds. It does have quite big wheels (3) but these unclip easily in seconds also if you needed to make it even smaller

peamad · 07/06/2019 09:46

Do you definitely need one? I found a baby carrier/sling much easier when going off road for dog walks etc. We had an all terrain pram but found that we just never used it.

Megan2018 · 07/06/2019 09:55

@peamad
I do sadly, can’t baby wear whilst handling the horses, baby needs to be in something that can be out of harms way but that can trudge up hills! No pavements here.
But its a good point for the OP, I have got a sling as well for walking locally to try too.
If I had unlimited funds I’d have an all terrain and a lightweight stroller for different things, but need to find a compromise.

Figgygal · 07/06/2019 09:57

When I had DS one I had a convertible with no boot and got a baby jogger city mini as it would fit in the space where the roof would fold down into

I now have a Toyota Aygo and the baby jogger fits in the very small boot of that also

Megan2018 · 07/06/2019 09:59

@Figgygal
Did you miss not having parent facing? That is what puts me off.

bitchfromhell · 07/06/2019 10:03

We have an urban jungle and I love it but it's pretty much takes up my entire boot and I have a 4x4.

The parent facing option is flimsy and not suitable before 6 months. The Carrycot only lasted 10 weeks before he outgrew it.
It's great as an all terrain pushchair though.
