Turning a breech baby!

Hi All,
34 weeks and at last midwife appointment she said the baby feels breech. Obviously I know this might be wrong or could change but what can I do in the meantime to turn the baby the correct way up? Is it possible to make this happen? Would I have any way of knowing whether they have turned?

Baby is very active generally but I don't know if you are supposed to feel a much bigger movement if they turn? Any help or advice would be much appreciated! I don't much like the sound of a doctor trying to physically turn the baby around - sounds a tad uncomfortable!

Thank you all in advance!

I’m 32w and have a breech baby, has been from the start. Where do you feel movements the most? I can feel the head to the right of my ribs, and kicking feet in my pelvis. Does that resonate? It’s given me pelvis issues because most of baby’s weight is all in one side.

Most breech babies will turn themselves naturally before birth so even if they ended up booking c section they still even check that morning. One position to try is on all fours, or kneel on the sofa with you hands on the floor.

But you’ve got loads of time yet for it to move naturally if it is breech.

Spend as much time as possible on all 4s - watching TV etc as that gives your baby the most room to turn.

Generally try to be active and also bouncing on a birthing ball.

Thanks both!

@Yukka It's hard to say where I feel it most! Apart from I feel most of it further down rather than higher up though. Often a lot of pushing out right in the middle of my stomach. There's a pressure to the left of my rib cage but it's hard to tell what that is. Midwife thought it might be the head? Might be a really silly question but how are you able to tell what bits are what?

Lots of scrubbing the floor on all 4s (even if the floor doesn't need scrubbing 😂). Get your bum higher than your head.

Yeah you would feel a tightness more where the head and back is, mine sounds higher up then yours, perhaps you’d could be more sideways ‘transverse’ then breech.

I’ve seen mine in scans so easier for me to tell what’s what. Have a feel around for where it’s hard, that will be head and body.

Pushing in the middle of tummy - I get that too, could be hands or the head when it sort of sits up :)

Check out the spinning babies website

I wouldn't worry. I had a breech baby at about 34 weeks and was offered an elective section. No pain, no hassle, Out in 20 mins and quite honestly very easy birth.

Both of mine turned late, at 36 weeks. They just turned by themselves.

During labour my baby felt breech so I had to have a scan. Turned out he was head down after all. You just never know for sure unless there's a scan to prove it!

My midwife said to spend time in all 4's for a few minutes thru the day to help things along. It worked out just fine.
