Where would you holiday - worried about food choices

Basically that. Looking for a European holiday in the sun but I'm worried about eggs, cheese, milk, and how fruit and veg is washed.
I feel like I'm being paranoid to excess but can anyone give me tips as it is starting to feel a holiday abroad will be more stressful than relaxing!

Rent a villa, then you can cook for yourself

Greece. Am here now. Been here a month. It's pregnancy bliss for food. More safe eggs, cheese, milk, bread, veg, fruit, meat and seafood than you can shake a stick at. I haven't found anything unsafe yet except some unsalted types of cheese which I'm pretty sure are OK but I've got a week to go so will stuff my face with them when baby is here.

Just remember pregnant people live all around the world and they cope just fine.
If your not comfortable with eating out then rent a villa and cook your own!

I think that's more of an issue in some asian and african countries (delhi belly!) than europe. I mean eggs and milk in the UK would be the same in other european countries due to EU rules and regulations.

I was pregnant while living in Madrid, which was great. The food standards are very high (best in the slightly less touristy streets) and there's a wide variety. All the best quality fish, fruit and veg in Spain is famously sent to Madrid as it's the capital, bit controversial amongst some but brilliant if you're the one visiting. If you go for a hotel with a rooftop pool you'll be able to relax in the sun some days, wander through Retiro park and the discover the city at leisure. It's a very relaxing city, but probably too hot in August so I'd avoid then!

If you go all inclusive at any 3 star resort in europe you will mostly be eating pasteurised supermarket stuff, which is safe.

I’m in Crete at the moment and have eaten most of the food on offer - I’ve just checked with the restaurants first if the feta and tzatsiki was pasteurised and it has been everywhere we’ve eaten. I haven’t had any problems at all - in fact the one suspected food poisoning I’ve had this pregnancy has been from eating in a UK restaurant!

I mean eggs and milk in the UK would be the same in other european countries due to EU rules and regulations.

EU standards certainly are very high but just be aware that vaccination against salmonella (which is one of the things that the lion stamp denotes) isn’t universal across the EU so it is prudent to avoid soft and raw eggs.

Just as an fyi for people feta is always safe unless you eat some (amazing) homemade stuff which you're not likely to find on your regular holidays. Any cheese you buy in a taverna or supermarket will be pasteurised. All mainstream dairy here in Greece is pasteurized. I would recommend you eat only hard boiled eggs or omelettes or scrambles.
