Should I be concerned baby is moving too much?

26 weeks, first pregnancy.

Obviously we all know to go and checked out for reduced movements, but tonight my baby is going crazy like never before - squirming around!

I’ve been having constant movements for about 3 hours, right in the centre, just by my bladder.

Some movements are so strong it actually startled me.

I ate a chicken salad for dinner, then a little while after I ate some chocolate (leftover Easter egg, about 1/3 of a whole egg 😕)

Do you think this is what’s causing baby to be so active, and is it anything to be concerned by?

I usually feel movements on the right hand side. Tonight it’s completely in the centre, from my belly button to my bladder.

Thanks for the advice. Might be a really silly question but this is not like my baby’s usual movement patterns and that’s why I’m slightly anxious about it.

If you are worried about anything at all, give your midwife a call! It's their job

I am not concerned about two much movement. I'm 27 weeks and my twins are wriggly

It's definitely one for your midwife. Any changes in baby movements, number/strength/place, should be checked out.

I had similar when pregnant with my DD, I was told to go to the hospital to get it checked out. (It was fine) My midwife said you should always refer to them if anything movement wise changes e.g no movement or too much.

My wriggly bundle goes mad after any sugar burst so it may be the chocolate that has done it. It may also be that baby has moved into a position that you just feel it more. I get about 2-4hrs of mad kicking every night now with random short spells through day, it seemed to move on quite quickly from the delicate little butterfly movements to the last week of him definitely making sure I know he is there! Check with midwife if concerned, they are fine with chatting over concerns over phone and will ask you to come in if they feel they need to examine you

Could it have moved which is why you're feeling it in a different place?

I had a very active baby regardless of the time of day and it felt like he never slept. I recall phoning triage in the late 20s as it felt like baby was moving even more than normal to ask if there was such a thing as too much movement and they said no. He's now 12 weeks and has been a way more active baby than all of the others too, he's continually wriggling even in his sleep.

Thanks for the responses.

Today is my changeover day to another week gone, and my app is telling me that baby can now tell up from down and is practising getting into the birthing position.

I think this is why I am feeling movements in a different spot.

I also think it was probably the sugar rush from me scoffing chocolate.

Movements seem somewhat calmer today - I can still feel things and its definitely in a different position, but it doesnt seem to be doing somersaults and squirming around.

I'm going to see how it goes today and if I notice it again I will call my midwife.

Thanks for the advice - it's a bit scary when something changes, even if its meant to as part of a normal pregnancy, as a 1st time preggo its always a bit unnerving. xx
