I've been on amoxicillin to clear a virus and I believe it's given me thrush.

I've bought thrush cream from the pharmacy but it's not helping and it's driving me bonkers.
I've had it for about 3 days now, struggle to get to sleep until about 4-5am. No discharge it's just extremely itchy.

Any home remedies I can try just so I can get through tonight? I've already tried yoghurt.

Also, anyone been sore and gone into labour? I have 3 days left until my due date and wondering what it's like having thrush and pushing a baby out Hmm

As you've already tried yogurt I'm not sure what other natural remedies there are tbh, washing regularly only with water to prevent irritation might help. Could you try the tablet? I usually take it as well as using the cream if I get thrush. If after a few days it's still not helping I would check with your GP as it could be something else if it hasn't cleared by then.

Eurax.

It does say not to use it in pregnancy but I did. I had pupps on my legs and it was driving me nuts. 10 minutes after the cream, the itch was away.

I've just recently had thrush in pregnancy and was advised only to use the pessary. It was gone in a day

I have a similar problem now. Had a bad cold for two weeks, didn't take antibiotics but my immunity was shattered and I caught what I think is skin candidiasis. Probably from taking lots of sugary stuff (lozenges, honey, etc) and not taking any probiotics. My skin is so itchy now it's literally driving me up the wall. It's itchy mainly in skin folds (groin, anus, legs, armpits..). So I've radically changed my diet, ditching sugar, eating yoghurt, probiotics, garlic, grapefruit seed extract, plus lots of veg and water. I hope it will pass soon, otherwise I'll go crazy.

@yermawyabas Thanks I'll try eurax.

If anyone knows more home remedies that work fast, please let us know :-)

xx

Using a barrier cream like sudocreme or a thick body cream like Nivea after a shower helps the itching for me.

I had thrush throughout my pregnancies. You can be prescribed the pessary tablet. Apple cider vinegar in a shallow bath is also really good for the itch.

JE87 · 30/05/2019 21:31

You can use the pessary just don't push it in too high. It be gone within a day!

You can safely use the pessary, although this close to labour I personally would get the tablet. You'd have to get someone else to buy it over the counter for you though as they won't sell it to you if you're pregnant. I have previously had medical advice that the tablet is fine when you are pregnant as long as you only take it once. The main risk is for some birth defects in people who were taking one of those every day for a long period in earlier pregnancy (for recurrent thrush). By your stage of pregnancy it cannot cause birth defects as your baby is already fully formed. And you'll only take one. It will clear it quickly. Nb i am not a doctor myself I'm only passing on advice I have had from a doctor during pregnancy.
