Reduced movement

Hello

I’m 27 weeks pregnant today, up until today I have been feeling my baby move loads and have got to know her patterns, today although I’ve felt a few little kicks she definitely isn’t moving like normally. I’ve just called our maternity unit and they said as I’m only 27 weeks all they would be able to do is a quick 2 minute doppler check as I’m too early to do any proper monitoring. Does this sound correct? She has recommended that I just go home, lie down for an hour and see if I can feel any movement?! Xx

Yes that sounds correct. The advice is to have a hot or cold drink and a snack, then lay still and concentrate on babies movements, so no TV on / using phone etc.
They generally only doppla til 30 weeks. I think it's to prevent people getting lots of scans cos they just fancy seeing baby under the guise of reduced movements.

Sounds about right, I think it's absolutely worth going and getting a mw to have a listen in though.

Thank you, I just needed a little reassurance that I wasn’t being palmed off by the maternity unit, but from further reading I don’t think they do CTG monitoring until 28 weeks. Having a lie down now and she has moved a little more so hopefully just a quiet day for her. Xx

Glad you are feeling reassured and baby is wiggling!

Care must be different in parts of the uk as any less movement is ment to be checked here, my midwife gave me info on it today.
I would go let them to check u out just to put your mind at rest.

Angel, I always thought that too as everything I had read said any change in movements you must go in for monitoring, but then the Tommys website seems to agree with what the midwife said that all they can do is check with a doppler at this stage. Luckily she is kicking a bit more now but if she goes quiet again I will def go in as I’m still worried. We are in the South East. Xx

Im in scotland so care seems to be a bit different here much more caring. If your still worried by tomorrow morning phone again dont sit about worrying. Ive put a photo of what i got from my midwife today im not sure its the same as online or what other midwives give out but it maybe helpful to others.
im sure your baby is fine as u have had movement. X
