I’m 34 weeks and she’s weighing 7.1lbs already, so set to be about 10lbs at birth at this rate.

I’m being sent for a gestational diabetes test on Thursday. I hope I don’t have it.

Any experience with this or similar? Could a big baby mean they’d like me to have a caesarean, or induce early?

Hi there; I was induced early as baby's tummy and head were off the chart. I was told baby would be 10.5-11lbs at least at full term.

Baby was born 40+2 at 8lbs12oz. I really wouldn't worry :-)

You may find it's all down to the measuring, I measured too big and too small in consecutive midwife visits with different midwives.

Try not to stress, they told my DD1 would be 10-12lb and were worried. She was a tiny 3.02kg, which is 6lb something. She was very long though.

They aren't that accurate in my experience, depends on the skill of the operator of the scanning equipment etc.

I was told my son was 10.6lb so they needed to give me a sweep as didn’t want him to get any bigger. He was 8lb 6.

i am being induced as they said they are getting to pudgy if they believe the baby is to big they will recommend induction.I am being induced at 38 weeks

I'm currently 33weeks baby weighing at 5.3lb and her Abdominal circumference is 97th percentile.
I had a second Glucose test on Friday and haven't heard anything back as of yet so presuming its ok (they said they will only contact you if you have it)
My next growth scan is next week when I'll be 35weeks.

Yep! Currently 40 weeks. At 35 weeks I measured off the chart. Have had extra scans at 36 weeks and 39 weeks and will have another at 41 weeks if baby isn't here.

However, I was constipated when I measured big and since then my measurements have been more 'normal'! Tummy measurements are notoriously inaccurate (as are scans!) and I'm convinced that it was just bloating!

However, first baby was over 10lbs so I have form and that's why I've probably had more scans than usual as there is a chance it is another big baby. My bump measured as totally average last time though and baby was estimated to be 8lbs not the 10 she was....

Scans say this baby is supposed to be only 9lbs something at birth but I'm expecting higher end of 10lb. I had no problems with my daughters birth and trust my body to get another 'big' baby out so have asked to wait to go naturally and consultant is happy with that.

It's scary when people talk 'big babies' but size doesn't indicate how a labour will go. My friends with far smaller (6 and 7lbs) babies had more interventions and tricky labours than I did.

Good luck.

Told through pregnancy (extra scans for other reasons) that baby's abdomen was enormous 97th percentile. I was given 3 diabetes tests! All negative. I ended up with a c section at 39+6 and DS was 9lbs 4 with a totally normal abdomen. He is very long and they didn't pick that up on the scan so I'm a bit skeptical about them now. Try not to worry x

Hey I have similar here,
At 31 weeks they said he was 5lb, at 35+5 he was just over 8lb.
I was told he'll put on half a pound a week to the end so 10lb at 40 weeks which they say is manageable. Over 10lb they would look at a section.
So they want to get him out by his due date so I'm having a sweep tomorrow at 37+5 and then induction last week.
They were very accurate with the measurements of my first child who was born at 38 weeks, 9lb 6oz.
