Hi there. I'm 39+2 (hence the nocturnal activity ...!) and have had mild SPD-type pain since around 30 weeks. It's only been on the right and it was just my pubic bone and sometimes my inner thigh which hurt, usually while turning in bed/twisting movement/after lifting etc. So I sort of self-diagnosed and didn't bother with the physio, just tried to take it easier. Have mentioned it to a couple of MWs, neither of whom looked like they gave a toss! Followed all the pelvic partnership advice etc, so far so good.

2 weeks ago I had an ECV which was unsuccessful, and during this the doc managed to make me just about leap off the table by starting to prod just above my pubic bone on the right. It felt like a muscular spasm, very intense pain but then it passed quickly and he could carry on. I put it down to my poor overstretched abdominal muscles and didn't think more of it - felt bruised for a day or so, no big thing.

However, recently I have been feeling stiffer than usual on getting out of bed and have spells throughout the day when I feel really sore just above my pubic bone, again on the right, so sort of very low abdominal region. As far as I can work out there aren't any ligaments there to hurt, so I'm a bit confused, although I'm sure it must be related to the SPD in some way. Has anyone experienced anything similar? I have a C-section booked for Tues so can't see the point worrying too much about it but am just curious as to what's going on down there!

Baby's definitely still breech, sadly ...

Thanks for the bump though!

I've had spd since 11 weeks, now 38 weeks, sometimes it calms down to the point where I can walk well and sleep with almost no pain, but when it's really bad I can just barely hobble around the house and I can't turn over in bed.

Recently it got suddenly worse and I was in a lot of pain with my right hip. It was clunking, clicking and turning over was impossible. My leg didn't feel right and wouldn't lie straight. I realise now it was a little out of joint. I moved quickly a couple of night ago and there was a painful audible clunk, and I think it went back in fully because the pain was so much better.

Is it possible yours may be slightly misaligned? Everything softens and becomes looser, it's easy to do damage.

Hi, i'm 30 weeks today and have been suffering with pain for the last 2 weeks which has today been diagnosed as SPD.
I was referred by my doctor to the physio. dept. at the hospital.

The physiotherapist i saw was great. She made me lie on a couch and she moved my hips back into line and then taped my back into place!! Sounds worse than it was but it seems to have done the trick.
Although i still have an ache it's definately better so i'd advise anyone who's also suffering to get a referral ASAP to a physio as i appreciate how painful it is.(i found childbirth with no pain relief less painful!)

Her advice to me was to keep your legs together as much as poss eg when getting in and out of car swing them round together.
When sleeping lay on your side with a pillow between your knees.
When walking almost shuffle along rather than taking big steps.
My fave bit was to avoid hoovering or any lunging movements!Hope this helps!
