Implanon & Pregnancy test-positive or evap?

So I’m coming to the end of my implanon. I think it’s finishing in October. I haven’t had periods with it at all, but the past few months I’ve been getting them. Anyways, I’ve not had once since March. Recently I’ve been feeling more tired and emotional than ever, and feeling nauseous every morning, which I’ve put down to stress of my job, which has resulted in a job change which I’ve also accounted the lack of periods to. I decided to do a pregnancy test I’ve got in my drawer, and to my surprise it came up with a thin blue line. I’ve never experienced anything like this before. However, I googled it and learnt all about evap lines. This line however doesn’t add up to the same description as an evap line. It’s obviously blue but it’s just not thick, it’s very thin.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this before with home pregnancy tests or falling pregnant towards the end (a few months before the end) of using the implanon?

I’ve already got a 6 & 10 year old, a third wasn’t really on the cards hence the birth control. But I just want to be sure, obviously would take another test when I get the chance to!

Help!!

Did you check the date on the pregnancy test? If you've had it in the draw for a long time then it might not be valid anymore?

No I didn’t actually, I didn’t even think of that! I’ll try get another one today and re test to be certain. I’m worried with coming to the end of the implanon I’ll be less protected.

Implanon (or nexplanon) will actually work for much longer than 3 years, probably up to 4 or 5, so don’t worry that it’s coming to the end. But do still get it changed at 3 years if you still want effective contraception!

That’s good news! I was worried because I started having monthly’s again that it was wearing off. But that’s set my mind at ease. I’ll stick to getting it changed every 3 years though for sure. I’ve just tested again, using a pink dye test and I’ve researched the blue ones can be notorious for fake positives with evap lines. And it was negative! I’m going to take that result Grin
