Hello all.
This is my first pregnancy. I have had a healthy pregnancy so far, with no issues. But still always thought I wouldn't fly past 28 weeks....
Hubby and I are trying to book a weekend getaway, and he's very keen to fly across to France rather than stay in UK.

What do you reckon? Any reason not to go? I know I'm being a bit over-cautious just not sure how comfortable I am....

thank you! :) x

Hey, just asked a similar question - see my thread 'holiday abroad at 28w' - conclusion appears to be yes!

Ah ok - thanks! :)

I'm 38 weeks now. Went to Tenerife week 29-30 and flying was absolutely fine. Just get a note from your midwife to say ok to fly in case you get checked by the airline (I didn't but was told I should take one with me). Enjoy

Yes I would if my pregnancy was low risk, if any complications I wouldn’t. I’m high risk and consultant lead so wouldn’t get insurance 🙈

I'm 30wks today and feel absolutely fine so yeah I would.

I flew last weekend at 33+5 and had no issues, felt fine. I wasn't even asked for my fit to fly letter. Just make sure you give yourself enough time to get through the airport - I keep forgetting I can't walk as fast as I used to be able to!

Do it! Just know where your nearest hospital is in France. If you know, you won't need it. ☺️ (I went to Lanzarote at that point. It was fabulous.)

I did, flew to Crete at 29 weeks and back at 30. I felt this was the best balance between not flying too late in pregnancy but also not risking going into labour abroad with an extremely premature baby.

Don’t forget to make sure you have travel insurance that will cover the baby if born abroad. Also check the airline’s policy regarding letters etc.

Why dont you take the train? 😊

I've flown the whole way through my pregnancy. Last flight was a 13 hour non-stop followed by a 2 hour second leg. Done at 33+4/5 and absolutely fine. Had a small dog with us too. Bit of a comedy trip but only due to dog. Pregnancy was fine.

Where are you travelling from? The train to France is a great option and pretty relaxed.

God no I was so sluggish and felt rough at 30 weeks - plus had issues in the last trimester so baby arrived at 37&6

Flew at 24-25 weeks or so that was fine

OP depends on how you feel. France by boat/train+car is doable clearly. I flew for work at 35 weeks to Europe to work, had a friend do that at 36 weeks for a media job in Indonesia We made sure we were properly insured for fly-back, local hospitals. In my case it helped I knew the language but google translate could be your friend if you don't. Your DH may be wanting to have the last gasp of freedom as you may be too, but if you don't feel comfortable, then don't.

EasyJet allow you to fly without a doctor’s note at 30 weeks, I think, so if you can fly with them it might be worth considering. I last flew at 33 weeks, and it was fine. Think I’m grounded now at 36+6, though!
