Food Aversions - when do they end?

I'm 11 weeks into my second pregnancy. Have had unpleasant nausea but no vomiting (yet - touch wood), and it appears to be getting a bit better. But I'm having terrible food aversions, to the point where my diet is now almost completely vegan. This wouldn't be so bad (I used to be vegan so I have a wide repertoire of recipes) but I have gestational diabetes which is not so compatible with a lot of vegan foods due to the high carb content. I've also gone off vegan 'fake meats' as well - was able to eat them until last week. Also a bit skint and it's getting very expensive living off avocados. It feels like every few days a 'safe' food I was ok with I now absolutely can't stand and my diet is becoming more and more limited. I can't remember having such strong aversions with my first pregnancy. Anybody have experiences of having really bad aversions and them going soon after first trimester?!

Yep, I had awful food aversions first trimester, even looking at vegetables made me wretch! could only eat beige carbs! However by about week 13/14 I was mostly back to normal. Good luck!

I'm 26 "weeks and I still have mine. I love vegetable, but took a huge dislike to broccoli and cauliflower and even thinking about it makes me queasy

I'm 30 weeks and still have mine lol

I went off coffee on our first (failed) round of ivf.

Baby is now 3 weeks old.

Still can’t stomach coffee.

Oh no, I've got bad food aversions and I was really hoping it would be gone by the end of the first trimester. So much stuff that I used to love I just can't stand the thought of anymore!

With DD1 all the way through pregnancy and even for months afterwards.

Thanks all, I'll just continue trying to deal with them then! I remember my last pregnancy I went off lemons actually and never really went back on them. I also went off coffee though and was back drinking it again in 3rd trimester so here's hoping!

Food aversions plagued my early pregnancy! It was something I hadn’t heard of prior to being pregnant and so it took me by surprise! I couldn’t stand any meat, particularly the smell of mince being cooked. Not any veg or fruit. I ate mostly chips, pom bears, bread & a bit later on fish fingers. I remember they had eased off considerably as I hit around 22/23 weeks (Christmas Week & I was so relieved I felt like eating!) but I could couldn’t stand chicken, turkey or chocolate Confused for my whole pregnancy. When my daughter was born, they gave me a left over meal on the ward. A chicken burger & chocolate mousse. It was the best thing I’d ever eaten! So strange how the total aversion just disappeared!

Yes it's so weird isn't it? Thankfully veg is still good, as well as spicy food but I can't eat bland carbs due to being diabetic. Just feel like my food world is tiny! And each week the list keeps getting longer. Hoping I'm in the peak period now though.

I had awful aversions to everything on my first. Couldn’t enjoy anything but could eat bits n pieces of crackers and bread and basically anything beige. I could also stomach crisps. Didnt eat veg for weeks and felt so guilty as I wanted my baby to grow healthy. Anyway it eased off at 16/17 weeks thankfully!
This pregnancy I’m grand in the morning, can eat a nice lunch as long as it’s not too big a meal. Can only just about eat dinner and sometimes I actually skip it altogether. I think I forced myself to eat in my first pregnancy thinking if I didn’t eat it would harm baby but i only made myself sicker. My baby turned out perfectly healthy even with my lack of veg last time so I’m a little less stressed about it this time! I’ll eat whatever I crave, be it chocolate buttons or sausage rolls or whatever. I’m definitely enjoying this pregnancy more!!!

Hi everyone! In case anybody googles and comes across this, here's a quick update. Last week was horrendous, but turns out I was only ten weeks (had scan this Weds - baby all healthy and lovely!). I'll be 12 weeks in two days and I feel much better, not fully back to normal, but able to eat more things. Today we did roast chicken and once I started eating it I couldn't stop, I think I ate about 2/3 of the thing, drank the gravy and am currently boiling the rest of it for a chicken stock snack later. Pregnancy is so weird! But I'm definitely making up for not eating much the past few weeks!
