Braxton Hicks

I'm 31+1 and all day, whenever I have started walking or stood up from sitting, I've been getting painful braxton hicks. I normally get them a couple of times a day but today it's been a lot.
This is my second pregnancy so I don't know if that makes any difference?

Just wondering if this is normal?

I'm 31 weeks with my first and I get them most days, sometimes only once or twice but sometimes it can be quite a lot. I get more when I'm thirsty, need the loo or need a sit down. From what I've read it's fine as long as they're not regular like labour contractions, but as you're getting them so frequently I would maybe ring your mw for reassurance.

Oh, meant to say, mine aren't usually painful, just uncomfortable, so if they're really hurting that might be another reason to speak to someone.

Thanks for the reply!
All my Braxton Hicks have been painful during this pregnancy for some reason. I'll definitely bring it up with mw at my next appointment.
I walked a fair bit today so that could've been the cause.

It just concerned me slightly as I haven't had them this much.

See how you go today, it could just be the walking. Smile

Sadly I think it's normal. I've been getting tonnes of BH throughout my pregnancy and some really have been painful. I spoke to my midwife who said not to worry, sometimes these BH set off round ligament pains or cause muscular pain.

I think as long as they aren't regular, or period type pains... you don't need to worry too much.

First baby here! I've had them since 26 weeks and midwife often causes them when she's prodding baby 🤦🏻‍♀️ She says not to worry and that it can be a sign of overdoing it so to have a rest when I have a lot (I sometimes get about 12 and hour).

I'm 30 weeks and the same! I keep feeling Braxton Hicks when I lift something or go up the stairs or exert myself in any way. It's my second as well, pretty sure I didn't have them this much this early with my first. I'm going to mention it to my midwife too but I suspect it's normal.

Sorry to hear that you're all suffering as well but sorta glad to know I'm not alone!

Yes not great haha I actually ended up going in for a check up at the hospital one day (think I was 32 weeks) as I was having them pretty much constantly for a half hour period. All was fine and they didn't really understand why as I hadn't been doing anything to set them off 😳 I'm hoping it means my body is super ready for labour (wishful thinking!) 😂😂😂😂

Mrsmummy90 · 27/05/2019 00:01

You'll have a uterus of steel by the time you go into labour 😂
