Baby movements at 22 weeks

I am 22 weeks today and hardly ever feel my baby move, even when I lie on my side. When should I feel regular movements?

I'm the same I get the odd little feeling but not much .

I have an anterior placenta and feel odd bursts of movement but not as regularly as I would expect. apparently having an anterior makes it more difficult to feel though. my midwife wasn't concerned at my 20w and said if I don't feel him fully by 25w she will consider a scan so i guess it should increase next few weeks

I had anterior placenta and didn't feel movement until around 25 weeks - and even after that they were faint and irregular. It's only been last 4 weeks (from 30) that they are super noticeable. Everyone is different so try not to worry but keep your midwife informed.

Is your placenta anterior? Call your midwife if you're worried - always better to check.

In my notes there's a section on baby movements and it says if you haven't felt baby move at all by 24w to contact midwife which suggests up until that point movements might be quite sporadic. However, it also says to ring if you have any concerns at all so no harm in asking!

Is this your first baby?
The advice is that you should start feeling movements between 16-24 weeks but first babies you are likely to feel later and even at 20 weeks may only feel flutters.
With my first I didn't really feel a thing until flutters around 20 weeks and then occasional waves by about 22 weeks. First definite kicks were probably around 25 weeks but I didn't get regular noticeable movement until about 28 weeks (I did have an anterior placenta which will have impacted this)
I myself of wouldn't find it massively concerning at this stage as the regular patterns will start to become noticeable a bit further on but like others have said, if you have any worries at all, contact your midwife as they will either suggest monitoring or reassure you that its nothing to worry about. Better to be safe.

Thank you. It is my third baby but a nine year age gap. Placenta is normal
