I have found out I am pregnant about 7 weeks, I am waiting on the midwife getting back to me with my booking in date, but I have not had any other information about what I do now. This is my 1st pregnancy so I'm anxious about what I do to help care for my baby. I know there is vitamins you should take but do I get them before I go for my appointment?? Any help/advice that you guys can give me

Pregnacare vitamins

mum2118x · 24/05/2019 18:36

My midwife actually told me pregnacare vitamins weren't as good as taking separate vitamins alone, so she suggested to buy them all separate and take one of them each everyday :)

pinkstar01 · 24/05/2019 18:44

@mum2118x I have never ever heard that, are you sure?

I've always been told to take a multtivitamin and you can try either Pregnacare or the Seven Seas one

WhiteVixen · 24/05/2019 18:46

You should at the very least be taking folic acid. Other than that, there isn’t really anything to ‘do’, other than wait it out. Early pregnancy is very boring 😂

Teddybear45 · 24/05/2019 18:47

If you’ve not been taking folic acid then it’s too late to make a difference to the neural tube now, but it may benefit you and the baby in other ways. Pregnacare is what the NHS and IVF clinics recommend where I live as it is often easier to take and less likely to cause toxicity than taking individual vitamins; also contains the perfect amount of other vitamins and minerals to help prevent some pregnancy complications. The MW has a stock of them to give to people on benefits.

Another thing you should do is download the Bounty app as it contains a lot of useful info in an easy to read format.

@mum2118x your Midwife should not be giving you that kind of advice, pregnacare have been voted the best pregnancy vitamins in the UK, hence why you now get a free pack from your midwife!! But as PP said as long as you take Folic acid and Vitamin D, those are important with a healthy diet xz

Bambamber · 24/05/2019 21:18

Yes you can get vitamins from most supermarkets or chemists.

Have a look at the NHS pregnancy website, there is some useful information on there

PrayingandHoping · 24/05/2019 21:19

My iVF consultant also advised Pregnacare Max and Vit D

Suain08 · 24/05/2019 21:30

Thanks everyone, I have got the vitamins now & downloaded an app. It's just because I've not actually had my home pregnancy test result confirmed by gp or midwife yet & with no date for booking appointment I want to ensure I'm doing things right 😊

Just so you know, it's unlikely anyone will "confirm" your home pregnancy test. The first NHS confirmation will be at your dating scan (usually around 12 weeks).

Congratulations! Thanks

WhiteVixen · 25/05/2019 08:54

Yeah I’ve never had a pregnancy ‘confirmed’ either. They just don’t do that now. Home tests are just as accurate as anything they could do at the doctors. They pretty much just take your word for it until your first scan.

Suain08 · 25/05/2019 09:52

I never knew it was this stressful, waiting for that 1st scan or booking appointment. After reading comments on here on different posts, I'm feeling less anxious & just going to take each day as it comes until I get a date. Thanks everyone for all your advice. Hope you all have Happy & healthy pregnancies x
