just wanted to check I wasn't the only one.. When I was about 36 weeks I did some weird little things in the name of nesting. One was to throw out all my pre-pregnancy clothes. Well, ok, not ALL. A pair of jeans and my wedding dress survived. The other (slightly more worrying) was to put labels on the shelves of my food cupboards. Like "Tea and Breakfast Items", "Pasta and Grains"... I had never done anything like this before (thank the Lord). The stickers are still there and dh likes to show people who come over. He thinks it is really funny BOO.

PMSL, I so hope you're not the only one & other people have some weirdo stories to confess! I must have been fairly sane during my pregnancies as I didn't do anything like that - although friends & family may not agree with me...

At the moment, I am hooked on ER re-runs on More4. I have been having norty dreams about Dr Greene

beansontoast · 20/07/2007 15:20

last time during my first pregnancy i bought three couches and a sofa bed....in the space of a week...and then had my dad and dp put them in different rooms and kept changing my mnd.

i have recently also thrown out tonnes of clothes that i cant stand teh sight of.i am throwing everything i can...freecycling brandnew gorgeous stuff.

i am ferociously grumpy and simultaneously 'on heat'....a little confusing for both me and dp.

i cry at EV-ER-RY-THING...thats everything.

love th eshelf labels

hmm. you all sound very sane. Maybe I AM particularly weird. If only I'd done the useful things, like making lots of yummy food and freezing it for when spinklet arrived. Just remembered a new one. I washed all of dh's golf balls. HUNDREDS OF THEM. Why? He was only going to lose them down rabbit holes.. The only defence I have is that it was displacement activity cos I couldn't do nursery stuff - we needed replastering and I had to wait til after ds was born for that to be done...

I, very embarassingly, love to smell DH's pits after he's been to work. He's as fresh as a daisy but the smell of his fresh sweat really comforts me. Oh God - what have I just shared!!

winestein · 20/07/2007 21:06

When I was pregnant I became hooked on that years Big Brother.
Now that is truly disturbed.

midnightexpress · 20/07/2007 21:10

Crying, mostly. I had to pull the car over when 'Green' by Joni Mitchell came on after I found out it was about the child that she had when very young and had to have adopted. I became slightly obsessed with it and used to test myself: 'This time I won't cry' I'd think to myself as I slipped it into the CD player. After 1st verse I'd have dissolved into tears and have to pull car over again.

And I did it again with 2nd pg too.

Spink · 20/07/2007 21:14

the armpit thing!!! I have it too with dh. The smell makes me feel safe and happy.... that's not just a pg thing tho!

There's a list on the door of the freezer with all the contents listed, and how many portions you can get out of them.

theressomethingaboutmarie · 23/07/2007 13:07

Oh Spink - Thank you so much for sharing! I told my DH that I had shared this snippet of info and he thought that I should be very embarrassed for being so mad. It really makes him laugh when I do it (I try to be discreet but snuffle like a pig when I do it!).

Jbck · 23/07/2007 13:15

winestein I extended my maternity leave to watch BB the year DD was born but it was back in the good old days when it wasn't fame-hungry wannabees (at least they didn't say out loud that they were). My hormones must have still been all over the place cos she was nearly a year old by that time.

Spink · 23/07/2007 13:18

theressomethingaboutmarie - I did read that it is perfectly normal and to do with pheremones. Bet there are hundreds of secret armpit sniffers out there... and for anyone who hasn't, go on, indulge youreslf!!

indignatio · 23/07/2007 13:22

I think it was dh's armpits that got me where I am now (10 + 4) - sure de-odourant rather than sweat though.

Spink · 23/07/2007 18:59

i might start an armpit sniffing thread. What do you think?

Naetha · 24/07/2007 09:59

I got an uncontrollable urge to listen to James Taylor this morning. Made a change from Slayer and Machine Head anyway.

coleyboy · 24/07/2007 10:04

I also have a secret liking to dp's armpit smell. He defo has his own smell, but it's not that awful bo smell that some people get.

Oh blimey, I need a fix now but he's at work !

Spink · 24/07/2007 10:12

maybe to you it's not that awful bo smell

Naetha, that is too hilarious! I am also due in first week of Jan 2008, and have suddenly developed a love of James Taylor. Never listened to him for 5 years, now constantly whistling along to Country Road. Other music just too... shouty. I now know it's the hormones!
