I've already flippin eaten it anyway but could not remember if it is ok to eat? I assume it was, as it was a baked frozen cheese cake from tesco. Man I just cannot remember what's ok and not!

Of course it's ok, especially if it's baked. Look at the NHS for guidance on what to avoid

Lovely thank you! I thought as much.

Baked yes. The raw kind no.

We are far stricter than many countries what pregnant women can eat. I asked several French women (trying to make conversation at a work do) when I was pregnant and they looked at me like I had two heads when I said I wasn’t supposed to eat some cheeses or drink.

You can eat all cheesecakes. Baked and unbaked. It's unpasteurised cheese you shouldn't eat. You can eat cream cheese.

Bubblebubble123 · 24/05/2019 09:18

I’m pretty sure cream cheese is high risk for bacteria too. In fact myself and my husband both got food poisoning a few months back (before I was pregnant!) and pretty sure it was from some cream cheese we had on a sandwich when out in a cafe.

Baked or not baked is fine as cream cheese isn't a problem. It's made with pasteurised milk as a previous poster has said. It's only soft cheeses like brie etc that are made with unpasteurised milk that you should be careful of. Don't worry so much.

PBobs · 24/05/2019 10:16

Cream cheese is not a risk.

PBobs · 24/05/2019 10:17

Pressed post too soon. Not a risk anymore than anything you might be in a shop. It's not the cheese that's the risk. It's the poor storage or prep standards you might encounter. As with anything you need to buy sensibly. If it's been frozen and baked you're totally fine. Unless you then left it out for hours on end in a hot kitchen.

dementedpixie · 24/05/2019 10:47

Baked cheesecake contains eggs which, in the past, you couldn't have undercooked. I would imagine shop bought uses pasteurised ingredients though. Cream cheese is not a risky food

dementedpixie · 24/05/2019 10:50

And it's soft blue or mould ripened cheeses that are advised against whether pasteurised or not as they are moist. You can eat hard blue cheeses even if not pasteurised as it doesn't contain a lot of moisture.

Cream cheese is perfectly safe to eat

Baked yes. The raw kind no.

Unless you make your cheesecake with Brie de Meaux this is simply untrue.
