I'm worried as Ive eaten a jar of cockles from the chippy. I know you're not supposed to eat seafood but has anyone else ever had cockles/seafood when pregnant??

You can eat seafood in pregnancy. The NHS website has good guidance on foods safe in pregnancy

You’re fine. It’s uncooked shellfish that is traditionally iffy, but I’d eat anything really.

Were the cockles pre-cooked? Cooked shellfish/ seafood is fine in pregnancy

allergyhelpnewbaby · 23/05/2019 21:11

As long as they were cooked and not off it’s fine.

You can definitely eat seafood while pregnant, who told you that you couldn't? Uncooked seafood is the only thing not recommended.

Please read this.

The cockles will have been cooked before pickling. Frankly the biggest risk to you is the inevitable heartburn from the amount of vinegar that you will have consumed.

If it’s cooked or cured / smoked / pickled - yes you can eat it. Just can’t eat it raw (eg oysters)
