So I don’t intentionally read horror stories or sad stories but recently they’re constantly floating about and coming up as suggested YouTube videos or articles about still births and it’s so upsetting and worrying!
Just for reassurance these type of things are really rare statistically right? Just makes me worry so much!

Try to keep calm, easier said than done right? But statistically they are rare. If these anxieties continue please do speak to your Midwife and Doctors, they can advise you better than anybody else.

Depending on how far along you are I’d recommend kick counting if you’re feeling anxious about your little bun. Or if you can afford it maybe you can invest in a home Doppler machine but be wary of getting one of these if you think it may actually increase your anxiety.

Trust your true instincts and if you feel at any point that you need reassurance that everything is okay either call/schedule an appointment with your midwife or go straight to your chosen hospital. They won’t see you as a nuisance.

Be kind to yourself OP, you’re doing the best you can for your little one I’m sure. Try to distance yourself from YouTube if you can and good luck with your little one Flowers Smile

Just to add. The more you look at this stuff on the internet the more your video and story suggestions will be tailored to a similar topic. Don’t google. If you’re anxious, speak to a midwife. I suffered terrible post natal anxiety and the Internet is the worst place for fuelling that. Negative outcomes are rare. That’s why the world is so over populated.

I’ve been doing this too as I have a number of conditions that cause stillbirth, and wanted to understand how they happen (and hopefully prevented). Try and focus on educational content from tommy’s etc rather than blogs etc. It seems that if you have a condition and insist on more doppler scans (or pay for them) as well as monitor kicks, and keep on top of your health/symptoms and advocate to midwives/Gps to get them to take you seriously then in most (not all) cases stillbirths can be prevented.

Please, please DO NOT buy a home Doppler! www.kickscount.org.uk/why-we-want-home-doppler-sales-to-be-regulated

@NuffingChora thank you for sharing that article as I hadn’t considered that viewpoint. I lost my second son, Christopher to stillbirth on the 25th April this year and my DH and I aren’t sure if we will try again one day - but a home Doppler had been suggested to try and prevent the same thing happening again. Now I have read that article I have changed my mind, but will still discuss it as an option with Health Professionals, should we TTC again down the line xx
