Hiya just looking for some advice.

I'm currently 22+3 weeks pregnant and only just really started feeling our baby kick. Generally only feel him every now and then in the evenings but everyone keeps telling me I should be feeling him a lot more by now (my first baby so no idea what is deemed "normal") so just wondered if anyone could tell me when they started feeling things going on?? Xx

18 weeks with the first. 16 weeks with the second.

Everyone is different, don't let people scare you into thinking something is abnormal!

As long as you're feeling baby throughout the day I wouldn't worry too much at this point. Babies change position and the position of the placenta can affect things too. You tend to notice movements more regularly as your pregnancy progresses and the baby gets bigger.

I didn't feel regular kicks until after 24 weeks. I have anterior placenta, which generally means I feel I bit less. I'm now 33 weeks and still had quiet days until a couple of weeks back as baby could hide behind the placenta.

If you’re worried then have a word with the mw. Better to get this checked out than not

The midwife told me not to expect regular kicks until around week 28 with your first but everyone is completely different so I wouldn't worry 🤗

I really wouldn’t worry yet unless advised otherwise. Like you I’m also 22 weeks, this is my first and the last week is the first time I’ve had noticeable flutters too! Sometime more in the morning and sometimes more in the evening - he was definitely going some today at my scan and she said ‘can you feel him now’ but I couldn’t despite seeing him wiggling on the screen so I think with your first it can take time 😘 xx

I’ve been feeling movements since around 17 weeks (am 21 weeks tomorrow) but can’t put a regularity or pattern to them - which is not unusual and I’m also expecting twins so never know which one is moving!! I was asked by Dr at 18 weeks and 20 weeks if I was feeling movement and told I will come to recognise more definite movements soon - today one of them moved and I saw my hand rise whereas, up to now, it’s been nice a feeling inside and not at surface level (though others can sometimes feel them if they press in the right place while they’re being active!!

I'm 22 weeks feeling kicks and movements but no regular pattern yet. If your worried talk to midwife.

Kej13 · 23/05/2019 22:35

Hiya, thanks for all your replies!!

I do feel him move a lot in the evenings when I'm at home it's just throughout the day I don't really feel him and people say I should be by now. I know people are different but it's EVERYONE who asks me tells me I should feel more, I guess people think they know best 👀. Hoping I'll start to feel him more soon, I do have anterior placenta so I know that won't help!

Thanks again xxx

I have an anterior placenta. I didn't feel a kick until 24 weeks and then I didn't feel anything else until 26 weeks. My midwife advised that they won't monitor for movements until 26 weeks and it's completely normal not to feel kicks until then with an anterior placenta because the placenta is taking the beating.
