Baby movements

Hi
So I’m 31 weeks tomorrow and baby has moved a bit less these past couple of days. But I still feel her often but it's a lot less than usual (usually it is constant).

Just now when she moved, I felt what was like a rush of blood to my face/head and my heart started racing. I also had a full on nose bleed earlier but it didn't last longer than ten minutes.

Is this all normal?

Nose bleeds are common - though I doubt connected to movements. I had something similar movement wise, a dramatic change also around 31 weeks, from extremely regular to more sporadic, and it turned out this was because she'd flipped over. I expect it's the same for you.

However I would call your midwife just to check. If you're feeling regular movement still they may not do anything, but best to ask. When is your next midwife appointment. At 32 weeks they'll have a good dig around so may be able to tell you if position has changed.

Not sure about the nosebleed but any changes in movement should be checked out. I'd contact your midwife and explain the situation. They might want to do a quick check up with you.

I have an appt to see my midwife this Friday. I’m wondering whether to call the midwives at the hospital now or wait until the morning bc it's a half an hour drive and it now 11pm. Like you say, I can feel her. Perhaps I'll just call. I do think you're right and she has probably moved position!

Okay so I called and she sounded annoyed bc I have felt baby. So I explained that I do feel her but it is a lot less than usual and that the nhs website and my midwife and my hospital notes say it is important to call if movements have decreased. She then said well baby may be in a different position or it's bc baby is bigger now. I said but midwife and nhs website say that doesn't matter and I must call you. She said well it's 11pm so you could come up here or you could just wait and see

Go and be seen.

capitalcapitalcapital · 21/05/2019 23:46

I agree with Hawkmoth. As you've said, the advice is that any decrease in movement needs to be checked. Hope all is well. Take care

DeadDoorpost · 21/05/2019 23:50

The rush of blood could maybe have been caused by baby being against a vein/artery at some point and then moved away. Happened in my last pregnancy, suddenly got this rush of blood.

Bambamber · 21/05/2019 23:51

I agree you should go and be checked over, don't be put off by her being annoyed.

SingingMyOwnSpecialSong · 21/05/2019 23:55

Go and get seen. Better safe than sorry. Have a look at Kicks Count on internet/Facebook for advice.

I had decreased movements around 34 weeks. Went to hospital for checks around 11pm. Baby was ok, but tests discovered early symptoms of pre-eclampsia and DD was eventually induced at 38 weeks after a few weeks of regular monitoring.

Thank you all!

That midwife doesn’t sound competent.
Please go and get checked.

Angelinthenightx · 22/05/2019 08:45

Glad all OK. I had movements one evening that made me feel really weird. Head rush and then dizzy and sweaty etc. I assumed a vein or artery being squished. I also think it was the moment baby turned into head down to be honest. Was probably around the 30 week mark.

Mrbumpoid · 29/05/2019 12:58

Yes sometimes I get movement and then a rush of blood to my head. Or I get really tired and ill and then produce milk. It is all so odd!
